Dungeon Travelers 2-2: The Fallen Maidens and the Book of Beginnings is a dungeon crawler RPG developed by Sting Entertainment and published by Aquaplus in 2017. It serves as a direct sequel to the game we covered recently in this post, continuing the story in a very unexpected way.
The story follows an alternative scenario from the previous game. It assumes that Fried Einhard and the library suppression team actually lost the battle against the Demon Lord at the very end while trying to seal her. Everyone got separated in the confusion. Fried wakes up to find two girls standing over him, only to realize that his body has shrunk down to that of a young boy.
What a nice way to wake up!Of course, the body isn't the only thing that changed in Fried. His personality has been deeply affected by the Demon Lord's soul he tried to seal within himself. The two girls standing over him are Gina and Luko, and they want to keep him under control. To do so, they apply a special magical collar that stops him from rebelling.
From this point on, your objective is to explore the ruined remains of the country and gather back all the heroines to reform the suppression team. Of course, all the heroines have also fallen to darkness, so you will have to fight them to release them and let them join back up with the party.
Luko is a strong girl!
Saving Irena! This time around, the recruitment order is perfectly reversed. You start from Irena and go roughly backward (aside from a few exceptions) compared to the order you gathered them in the original game. It kind of helps with variety because the last few characters are usually hard to fit into your team once you have a solid leveled-up group.
There are, of course, a series of mysteries surrounding the identities of Gina and Luko, especially considering their knowledge of the situation and how they control a small atelier near the border. Both of them are more than meets the eye, and their story is well explained through the many events that surround them.
Run away, she's hungry!
A dream coming true! The end goal is to restore the country and stop the Demon Lord altogether, but there is more to it. The main game covers the core bits of the story, but the post-game actually has a special ending that closes all the remaining story threads. This happens after you defeat the final two bosses of the final post-game dungeon. It was definitely worth the farming to reach that point!
The game mechanics are pretty much the same as the first game. You go through multiple dungeons, explore the map, defeat creatures (which shows you an ecchi CG once defeated), gain levels, and eventually reach the post-game where you will have plenty to do with many complicated dungeons that require specific classes to unlock.
I knew she had it in her!
Princess, it can't be helped!Think of this as "more of the same" but with a totally new story to keep you interested. It was a no-brainer for me to pick it up as I absolutely loved the first game, and it did not disappoint. The two new heroines are stunning both in looks and personality, and it is fun to see the existing heroines in their "Dark Form" and eventually back in the team with the usual interactions.
The art quality is even higher than the already outstanding first title, with Gina being my favorite character in terms of design. Her long black hair and purple eyes on that petite body really make her stand out. Of course, my overall favorite character remains Alisia, just like in the first game!
Drunk Gina was great too!Verdict? If you liked the first one, definitely get this one as well. It will provide lots and lots of fun even if you just complete the main story, and even more if you are into post-game dungeon crawling.
