Ore wa Seikan Kokka no Akutoku Ryoshu Vol 10 - Is that the Emperor? Rosetta happy!

Just finished volume 10 of the light novel series Ore wa Seikan Kokka no Akutoku Ryoshu (俺は星間国家の悪徳領主) which finally seem to have revealed the final boss that is going to be central in the upcoming story chapters and no, seems like it's not "The guide".

The story continues from the previous volume with the marriage between Rosetta and Riam being confirmed and the preparations ongoing with the scheduled date being in two years (remember time is a lot more lax in this universe where humans live hundreds of years). Riam still isn't that convinced, but the pressure from all sides is too strong for him to be able to do much against.

At the same time Cleo (under suggestion from the Emperor) decides to betray Riam and "stand on her own" which is kind of paradoxical considering she only reached these heights thanks to Riam. She join hands with the first prince and murder the guards and agents that Riam gave her.

The plan is simple, defeat Riam in battle by making him join a war for a remote planet where some of the nobles of Cleo's faction will sabotage Riam's army from inside. At the same time The Guide hasn't been idle and he helped them steal Riam's genes to create a clone that could fight against him on equal ground (only one of the clones (a female) kind of succeed in getting close named 3588).

Initially Cleo's plan kind of work, but after hearing Rosetta's words of worry toward him that reminds of his previous life, he decides he WILL finish the war within two years in time to get back and marry her. Took him a while, but finally Riam is starting to overcome the romance trauma that The Guide inflicted him in his previous life.

3588 (who is just an innocent girl trying to live) is defeated by Kurt who free her and take her to his homeplanet to live with him. Cleo/Prince armies are routed and the plot is revealed which causes the relationship between Cleo and Riam break down. He'll allow her to become emperor, but will make sure she'll be the "last one".

Rosetta is always so dedicated to Riam.

This is even made more evident as Riam's detect a shadow living within the Emperor's body when he meets with him near the end of the volume. This makes me assume another entity similar to The Guide is inhabiting the Emperor body making him some sort of a puppet. The only one that can really fight these is Riam at the moment with his awakened Issen-ryuu.

Rosetta finally gets to marry Riam (she really has been waiting quite a while) and that means that Riam obtain her title and becomes a duke. From this new standing he'll have to gather forces to fight against the rest of the empire and it'll require quite a bit of work considering how big the interstellar empire is.

Happy end for Rosetta finally in this volume. She really deserves it!

Oh and poor guy Klaus is now known in the whole interstellar empire as the "undefeated knight" due to his exploits during the war on Riam's side. I love how he's just trying to get people off his back and go back to his normal life, but every suggestion he gives only ends up making him even more popular. I'm kind of a sucker for these comedic misunderstanding plot.

Quite excited to see where the story goes from here. Will the Emperor be the final boss of the story or will it then go back to our classic comedic The Guide?
