Osananajimi to wa Rom-Com ni Naranai Vol 19,20 - Tsuchimikado Chika?! New heroine?
Volumes 19 and 20 of Osananajimi to wa Rom-Com ni Naranai (幼馴染とはラブコメにならない) are nearing the story's end, with Yonosuke finally deciding who he is going to date. While things went pretty much as expected in the first volume, the second pivoted significantly.
Volume 19 covered the second half of the dates, and we got a few cute scenes for all the heroines, including Kozue, who has already been officially rejected and is out of the race (unless they pull a harem card, of course). I quite liked the Oriana scene, as she realized that she wants to monopolize Yonosuke, too. It's rare because she was the most adamant harem proposer.

Then comes volume 20, where Yonosuke is ready to give his answers, but he gets kidnapped by a mysterious, beautiful woman. Who is she? Of course, she is yet another childhood friend. The issue is that my first reaction was "woman," not "girl." Her appearance and the makeup characteristic of a traditional Japanese woman made me think she was in her early 20s.
That is not true, though; she is Tsuchimikado Chika, daughter of a clearly Yakuza family and one of Yonosuke's childhood friends. She tried to challenge him multiple times during their childhood, but she always lost to him, creating a bitter, one-sided rivalry that has continued to this day.

She kidnapped him because she didn't want to marry some rich guy in France, and she is using Yonosuke as a scapegoat. Yeah, it's the typical plot we've seen thousands of times, but I liked her because she's so choroi that it's unbelievable. She is already in love with him, but she hasn't managed to express her feelings.
I was a bit sad about the ending, but a sneak peek into the next volume shows that she appears again, so I am wondering if there is a place for her in the finale. I am completely baffled about who he is going to choose. I don't feel anything other than a harem ending would fit the "happy ending" bill.

The next volume is the last one that completes the series, and it is technically already out. I will give it a shot soon and hope to report back here with some good news. The cover does not seem to offer any hint about who is going to win, as it just shows all the heroines together.
