Reincarnation no Kaben Ep.04 - They're dropping like flies. Wait, is that...

Episode 4 of Reincarnation no Kaben continues directly from the previous episode with continuous battles between the protagonist's faction and the sinners; the results are disastrous, with characters being killed like flies to the point that most of the cast introduced has already disappeared.

I'm not sad about it, mostly because I honestly have difficulty remembering most of the characters' names, aside from the few main characters who actually received some development. I guess that's one way to handle an overpopulation of characters while trying to raise the stakes of the battles in an anime series: just cull them off in a few episodes.

Hitler wasn't on my list of characters that I expected to appear, moreover in this small form.

Einstein being conflicted between her will to survive and her need to exact revenge.

There were multiple battles occurring simultaneously in this episode, such as Funasaka Hiroshi vs. Rudel Hans and Hathcock Carlos vs. Simo Hayha (the female sniper), but most of the focus was definitely given to Adolf Hitler, who was a complete terror to everyone on the battlefield despite being physically small.

It is unknown what gender Hitler is in this series, but I know it is a complete menace to everyone else with the power of seeing through the items it dispersed around the forest. The only one who was able to see through its skill was Newton, but the battle itself remains undecided.

Seems like Newton has a plan to defeat Hitler, what will be is unknown, but good enough of a cliffhanger to attract me to see one more episode of this. View video page

Touya himself was quite passive in these last two episodes, but I assume they are saving him for the battle against the enemy boss. Neumann is at risk right now, and they really need to find a way to protect her or the entire faction will fall apart. That feels like the job for the hero to do, which would earn him more trust in exchange.

Also, I haven't seen either Haito (the main heroine) or Yagyuu Jubei Mitsuyoshi (a prominent ally/heroine) in action, both of whom are definitely the poster characters of the franchise. Will they become the focus of a future episode of this arc, or will they only get more time to shine in a future story arc?

Neumann looks so good in these shots, but so far she hasn't done much at all.

The moment where you're like, wait she's who? And the enemy is who? *completely clueless*

Next episode is titled "Goodbye, Hearkening Soul," which seems to indicate that another character is going to die soon. I am leaning toward Funasaka Hiroshi because he is the one who knows Touya's secret, and that makes the entire premise at risk, so his death would fit.
