I've been trying to catch up with Reverse: 1999 recently, a game I originally picked up without much expectation when it first came out. To my surprise, it turned out to be far more engaging than I anticipated largely thanks to its intriguing and unconventional setting. It's not every day that you come across a game rooted in a blend of the industrial era and surreal time-travel elements, and that alone makes it stand out from the usual lineup of mobile titles.
The basic premise, as you may already know, revolves around a mysterious phenomenon known as the "Storm". This event causes time to reverse, dragging the world back into previous eras. Only a select few people are aware of it, and even fewer have the ability to avoid being erased by it altogether. These individuals are split between two main factions: Manus Vindictae, who seem to welcome or even accelerate the Storm’s progression for reasons that are still not fully clear, and the Pavlov Association, which seeks to stop it. The player (Vertin) takes on the role of a member of the latter group, working from within to understand and resist the Storm’s effects.

I’ve really enjoyed several parts of the story so far, especially the Kakania and Chapter 37 arcs, which represent some of the most well written and memorable content the game has to offer. I still have recorded the scene where the Storm is activated and 37 watches helplessly as her friends are erased (they decided not to survive this Storm) while Kakania and the people of Vienna try to survive the Storm using the new method devised by the Pavlov association.
That said, not every chapter has hit the same level of quality. Some of the side events and storylines that deviate from the main plot haven’t been quite as polished, making them feel more like optional filler than must experience content.

That being said, I’m currently making my way through the final chapter of the second arc, as shown in the screenshots. I’ve been hearing a lot of hype about this chapter as, apparently, it contains some of the biggest plot twists in the entire game so far. I’m really looking forward to seeing how it all plays out.
