Shin Koihime Musou Kakumei - Ryuuki no Taimou - A good end for the trilogy!
Shin Koihime † Musou -Kakumei- Ryuuki no Taimou (真・恋姫†夢想-革命- 劉旗の大望) is a visual novel developed by BaseSon and released in 2019. This is the third and final main entry in the trilogy that remakes the popular Shin Koihime franchise into a modern style with additional characters and content. We recently discussed the previous two entries, Souten no Haou and Son Go no Ketsumyaku.
I used the term "main entry" because there are six small fan disks under the label Shin Koihime Eiyuutan. These follow the trilogy and expand on the stories of the characters. While I haven't played them, they apparently take place in a separate timeline from the remake games and serve as fanservice for the players.
Ryuuki no Taimou focuses on the Shoku faction, which is the "canon" path most anime adaptations of this franchise have followed. This time, Hongou Kazuto befriends Rinrin (Chouhi), Aisha (Kan’u), and Touka (Ryuubi), who are among the most important characters in the Three Kingdoms world. Together, they form the "Oath of the Peach Garden."

This entry features a complete shift in approach because Touka, the leader of the faction, is a committed pacifist who wants all people to unite and avoid war entirely. If you played the earlier entries, you already know this, as she frequently demonstrated that attitude whenever she appeared as an enemy.
She reluctantly fights only when her retainers push her to do so, and her hesitation often leads to disaster. This time, however, Kazuto is by her side, acting as the glue the faction needs to perform at its best. Because of the prophecy, the girls call him Master and treat him as the de facto leader together with Touka.

While the first game was about conquering through reason and logic and the second was about conquering through violence and bloodlines, this third game is about conquering through friendship and collaboration. I still believe Karin’s approach was the best of the three, but these games allow you to see the value in all three perspectives.
We also see the conclusion of the fourth timeline in the post-game scenes. This completes Karin’s story from the first game, allowing the Kazuto from the first timeline to meet her again in an emotional reunion. This was the best payoff I have had in a while, as I was unhappy with the sad ending in the first route.

The total length of this final entry was roughly 90 hours for me. Combined with the other two, that makes a total of 254 hours of pure story content. After 250 hours of listening to these characters, you will definitely miss them a lot once the story is over.
As in the previous review, instead of listing every character, I will focus on my top four favorites in different categories.
For the best-looking character, my choice is Kuutan, the Emperor. She becomes a full-fledged heroine in this game, and I loved her look when she shifted from traditional imperial clothes into the sailor uniform Kazuto prepared for her. Her long, flowing hair transitioning from light purple to white gives her an ethereal appearance.

For the best voice, my choice is Ren. I wondered if she might also be the best mascot because of her tame, dog-like personality outside of battle, but I chose her for her voice instead. Ren is Ryofu Housen, the most powerful warrior in the land. No one can match her, and it takes multiple heroines just to contain her. However, she dislikes fighting and prefers relaxing with animals. She is adorable.
For the best heroine to pursue romantically, I will go with Maachi. She is a relatively minor heroine working under Reiha as a strategist, but I loved her in her dedicated side stories. She just wants to catch her breath after all the crazy situations Reiha puts her in, and the moments she shares with Kazuto are ultra-cute.

For the best mascot of the series, I believe Hinari is the best choice. Together with Shuri, they are the best strategists of the Shoku faction, but they are so small and adorable that it is hard to see them as anything other than mascots. In the story, she is even nicknamed the "awawa strategist" because she is always so flustered.
Many other characters stood out to me, such as Ei with her tsundere personality toward Kazuto, Sei with her secret "Butterfly Mask" antics, and Shion with her motherly, caring attitude. I am sure you will find a favorite as well. Special note for Riri who is not an heroine, but is the adorable child of Shion.

This concludes my reviews of the trilogy. I will say it again: play all three visual novels in order. It is a lengthy task, but the payoff in fun is worth it. I plan to play the smaller fan disks I mentioned earlier to see what they offer, and I may even post about them in the future.
