Tantei ha Mou, Shinde iru Vol 13 - Another Eden's truth. How to solve this?

March 1, 2026 · 8:02 AM

Volume 13 of Tantei wa Mou, Shinde iru (The Detective Is Already Dead) finally reveals the complete truth behind Alice, Ogami, and the "Another Eden" parallel world that has been attacking the protagonist's world over the last few volumes and set up the stage for the finale.

It seems the other world is in a state of permanent disaster due to the sun disappearing at a pivotal moment, which caused history to deviate from our own world's timeline. Seed, the first antagonist of the series, teams up with two other antagonists in this world: Abel the Great Thief and Scarlet the Vampire. They completely disable the sun, which is then replaced by the Akashic Record to preserve the stability of the world.

Small Nagisa is even more cute than I expected her to be. Just look at her!

It started with three childhood friends and it ends with them again. Alice, Nagisa and Siesta.

Seed is apparently defeated off-screen by the singularity of that world, Ogami, but Abel and Scarlet manage to escape by kidnapping that world's versions of Nagisa and Siesta to be their brides. Alice vows to recover her friends and becomes the Great Inventor, working tirelessly to keep the world alive.

After eight years, she manages to reach Scarlet, who reveals that Siesta and Nagisa died suddenly and without any apparent reason one day. Alice kills Scarlet with a lance and mourns her friends' deaths, wondering why she even started her journey if this was the inevitable result. At that point, Ogami reveals that their deaths were actually caused by the wish of a singularity from another world: our own.

Absolutely stunning Nagisa showing here. Interesting fact, Nagisa in the parallel world was just as M as the one we know and love.

I truly wish these three (Alice, Siesta and Nagisa) to find an happy end. It would be too sad if just Kimihiko's world manages to get one.

Kimihiko wished for both Siesta and Nagisa to be alive at various points in the story where they otherwise would have died. This caused the "Another Eden" versions of them to suffer the consequences instead. Apparently, when singularities wish for things beyond the normal level of their powers, it influences neighboring parallel worlds.

The world of "Another Eden" is constantly riddled with disasters because the Akashic Record, which takes the form of an inverted pyramid in the sky, cannot handle replacing the sun while simultaneously fighting off various world menaces. Ogami states that they need a Great Detective to solve their world's crisis, which is why they are pursuing Nagisa and Siesta.

Reloaded x Mia yuri? I know the scene was a serious one, but come on...just look at them?

More adorable art for Siesta and Nagisa in small form. Honestly I didn't expect to see them in this state.

Most of the volume is spent with Kimihiko traveling through the "Another Eden" world, learning about the consequences he caused and interacting with copies of Siesta and Nagisa from that world. They are not the real individuals but are more like code reproducing them. This makes the speculation that their worlds might just be a simulation within a massive computer, the Akashic Record, seem even more realistic.

We see many friendly faces along the way, all in very different situations compared to what we know. Saikawa, Charlotte, Mia, Reloaded, Fubi, and Danny Bryant all make appearances in the volume and help the protagonist discover more of the world's history.

Now it is time for the grand finale of this story arc and, I suspect, the entire franchise considering how things are wrapping up. We are likely due for one or perhaps two more volumes before the series is completely over. I am really curious to see how they are going to resolve this situation. Will Alice manage to get her happy ending as well?
