Catherine: Full Body is a puzzle game developed by Atlus and released in 2019 as a remaster of the original Catherine, which was released in 2011. It features an additional character, new routes and endings, and other changes to improve the experience and align it more with current standards.

The story is set in an American space colony called Neo-Brooklyn and follows Vincent Brooks, a 32-year-old systems engineer who is unambitious at his job and still in limbo between living the bachelor's life and adulthood. He tries to avoid anything that could create new responsibilities for him, be it a promotion or marrying his long-time girlfriend, Katherine.

One night, while drinking with friends at the Stray Sheep Bar, he meets an alluring and enigmatic woman named Catherine, with whom he ends up having an affair. Perhaps due to this, Vincent starts having surreal nightmares where he and other men need to ascend a tower while outrunning demons that try to kill them.

Of course, these are not just dreams, because anyone who fails ends up dead in the real world, as shown by the many news reports you hear at the bar. This, combined with the stress of having to live a "double life" by hiding his affair from Katherine and hiding the fact that he is already with someone else from Catherine, causes Vincent to start losing his grip on reality.

It may look like just a story about a man who needs to grow up and become an adult, but at the same time, there is more than meets the eye regarding the various characters you meet in the game. The story has multiple different endings depending on which heroine you want to pursue.

We have endings specific to Katherine, Catherine, and Rin (all heroines have bad, good, and true endings). There is also the "Freedom" ending where he realizes he doesn't want to marry and just wants to visit outer space. The game itself isn't too long and can be completed in 15-ish hours for the main story, though there are optional challenges you can attempt if you enjoy the gameplay (there is also a small story segment if you complete all the challenge stages).

I honestly struggle when it comes to choosing a favorite character in this game. I do like Katherine after she mellows out in her endings, but the initial impression of her was downright scary. I would have quit right there if I were Vincent. At the same time, Catherine was alluring and all, but considering her circumstances... well...

The gameplay involves moving up through a 3D tower that combines platforming and puzzle-solving to try and survive the demons chasing you. It is time-based, so you will have to think quickly about some of the moves (there is an easy mode for those not interested in that aspect, though).

Catherine: Full Body is a masterpiece when it comes to storytelling, and I really suggest you give it a shot. You can find it on pretty much all platforms at this point, and it doesn't cost much either.
