Gal Gun 2 - Same formula, more fun! Chiru and Nanako!Dec 4, 2025, 5:01:05 AM

Gal Gun 2 (ぎゃる☆がん2) is another entry in the Gal Gun series, developed by Inti Creates and released in 2018 for Playstation 4 and PC. Like its predecessors, it delivers a lighthearted rail shooter with romance, comedy and a generous dose of ecchi charm.

As with the previous game I wrote about, the player follows a fixed path and shoots incoming targets to earn points and progress through the story. The formula is still largely intact, though this installment introduces some notable upgrades and refinements.

Surprisingly big!

The story follows an unnamed protagonist who gets dragged into yet another conflict between angels and demons. Kurona, the demon antagonist from the previous game, returns and attempts to unleash even more chaos in the school. The protagonist is given 20 days to stop her before she takes total control.

There are also small cameo appearances from Shinobu and Maya, the heroines of Double Peace. They do not play major roles this time, but I loved seeing them again since they were my favorites from the earlier game.

*chomps too*
There's something very interesting behind you!

The two main heroines this time are:

Nanako Tamasaki
The protagonist’s childhood friend. She is friendly, sociable and warm-hearted. Her story takes a dramatic turn when it is revealed she is half-demon, something she had no idea about. This complicates things, especially since the protagonist is working with an angel. Her route focuses on accepting her origins and using her powers positively.

Chiru Kondo
A brilliant inventor who upgrades your gear throughout the game. She refuses to go outside due to past trauma, and a large part of her story involves the protagonist helping her rejoin normal school life and slowly overcome her fears. She is linked to angels instead.

Demons are great!
Welcome back Chiru!

There is also Risu, the angel assisting you throughout your missions. She helps with guidance and support, and she even has her own separate route and ending.

In total, the game features:
Two endings for Nanako
Two endings for Chiru
One ending for Risu
One “doki doki” secret ending, a joke finale where the romantic situation stays unresolved and both Nanako and Chiru keep chasing you

Angel power!
Do it! Take the devil out of her!

Gameplay-wise, the minigames received noticeable upgrades compared to earlier titles and are genuinely fun to play. They are definitely on the ecchi side, so maybe not something you would showcase to a general audience, but fans of the series will feel right at home.

If you enjoyed the first game, or even if you are completely new to the franchise, I recommend giving this one a try. It is a solid and entertaining experience, relatively short (around 7–10 hours for the story) and guaranteed to make you smile.
