Gal Gun Double Peace - It's kind of fun actually...Nov 28, 2025, 3:59:38 PM

While preparing new content for this site I was going through my archive of screenshots from the past few years. I actually have material dating back to 2016, and one game that immediately caught my attention was Gal*Gun: Double Peace, a lighthearted rail shooter released in 2015 and developed by Inti Creates.

The game is a rail shooter, which means the player automatically follows a predetermined path and must shoot at incoming targets in order to score points or simply survive. This genre was far more common in earlier gaming eras when technology was more limited, but Double Peace stands out because of its unusual and comedic setting.

That look is so adorable!

The story follows Houdai Kudoki, an ordinary high school boy who becomes the graduation target of Ekoro, an apprentice cupid angel. In order to graduate, Ekoro needs to shoot a designated human with a love arrow so he can successfully find a girlfriend.

Before she fires, she notices that an apprentice devil named Kurona is targeting the same boy. In a moment of panic, Ekoro boosts the power of her arrow by thirty-two times, and this causes Houdai to become unbelievably attractive to every single girl in the school. They all begin frantically trying to confess their love to him.

It's not my fault!

Kurona then attacks with her staff which affects the already infatuated girls. They begin expressing their love in far more aggressive and chaotic ways, something the game calls a form of "crush bullying". To make things even worse, if Houdai does not find a girlfriend before the end of the day he will be destined to live alone forever. This is where his frantic adventure begins as he navigates the school, fending off hordes of lovestruck girls while trying to determine who his true love actually is.

Aside from the rail-shooter gameplay, there's also a few mini games for each heroine and the usual visual novel segments where you will have a few choices here and there, some just to get different scenes and some other that determine which route you'll enter.

Love love!
I can fly!

The main heroines are Shinobu Kamizono and Maya Kamizono, sisters who are also childhood friends of Houdai.
Shinobu is energetic, confident and always ready for action. She is impulsive, which often leads her into dangerous and comedic scenarios.
Maya is quiet, composed and frequently acts as the voice of reason. She contrasts sharply with Shinobu which creates a balanced and enjoyable dynamic between the two.

Saving cats is important.
I'm stuck step-heroine!

Both Kurona and Ekoro have their own routes as well. These are usually unlocked after clearing the main story for the two primary heroines and selecting specific dialogue choices. My favorite character is definitely Shinobu because she fits right into my preferred quiet and cute archetype, even though she is not entirely quiet.

I definitely suggest giving this game a chance. It is short, genuinely fun and usually inexpensive on digital storefronts. If you enjoy quirky, chaotic and comedic shooters with a lot of personality, this one is worth the time.
