Ghost Concert: Missing Songs Ep.01 - Kaede is stunning! Songs were amazing.

Episode 01 of Ghost Concert: Missing Songs caught me by surprise, I'll be honest. I wasn't even planning to watch this, but I thought, "Hey, there's nothing on today; let's give this one a shot, just for the laughs." Oh boy, I was so wrong. The episode started with a banger song immediately, and the concert scene with the main heroine, Seria, wasn't a 3D CG mess.

I was hooked, but still not convinced. Then the plot kicked in: a world where singing is forbidden because it would "infect" people, with mystery abounding. The music is all generated by an application called MiucS in their stead (perhaps an author's nod to the AI situation flooding the world?), and Seria is trying to live a normal life away from music.

Kaede is like straight in my top tier when it comes to looks. I'm weak for her type of girls.

Apparently it's common for people to be possessed. That looks very 'Cleopatra' of her. You know, huge.

Seria looked fine, but didn't really strike me looks-wise. She was possessed by some weird entity while chasing someone in the street and was controlled, even trying to lure males with her looks. A classmate of hers appeared in the shadows, consulting with a male who wanted to help; it was Kaede Saionji.

Blue hair, a serious face, a traditional beauty. I was struck; she was exactly my type, down to the voice provided by Ojika Nao, a very new seiyuu with little experience and only one leading role in her career in a mahou shoujo anime. I also sensed possible yuri between the two, you know, when the situation is normal, but you can "feel" it?

I loved Kaede's reaction to the provoking line from the possessed Seria. Girl seems to be pure enough to be easy to tease. Curious to see how she interacts with Seria next week. View video page

Anyway, this led to a series of battle scenes, all with a budget high enough to sponsor entire seasons of Yuusha Party Kawaii, coordinated with songs and great special effects. I was completely sold; this series was going to be something I watch weekly. It was just too good.

Then it dawned on me all at once. A good-looking but plain heroine with orange hair? A stunning heroine with blue hair and great fighting prowess? High-value battle scenes coordinated with songs? THIS IS SYMPHOGEAR! The series is basically trying to be Senki Zesshou Symphogear, which is a franchise I love for the exact same reasons.

I know I said it earlier, but look at Kaede. I doubt anyone can top her looks in the main heroines, but let's see next week.

Seems like we have a good number of different heroines with very different styles. Curious about their personalities.

And honestly? I don't mind. It's doing a good job so far, and I'm stoked to see more of it. They won, and to think I was planning to skip this without giving it a chance. Now the wait for the next episode begins; I'm curious to see the other heroines that were hinted at in a small scene (see screenshot).

Will there be a character like Chris from Symphogear? She was my favorite back then, and I'd be glad to see someone similar here, too. The episode ended with Seria dying, but we all know she'll be back next week in a new form. I'm curious to see what lore is required to bring her back...
