Ginga Eiyuu Densetsu: Die Neue These Season 3 - Iserlohn Fortress battle!

Continuing from our last post, I finished the third season of Ginga Eiyuu Densetsu: Die Neue These and I have to say that it was a mixed bag this time around. The first half was almost entirely dedicated to backstory building for the various generals in Reinhard's army, which, while interesting, failed to capture the emotion of the battles and political machinations.

Things have been moving without too much trouble for Reinhard in terms of progress, and honestly, I'd like to see him struggling more, because otherwise it feels too boring for progress. Sure, he lost Kircheis last season, but that doesn't sound as remarkable as some real opposition existing in the country.

Hilda continues her role of entering the inner sphere of influence for Reinhard, wouldn't surprise me if they actually become a couple at some point in the story for one reason or another.

I said it last post and I repeat it again, just marry already. Frederica and Yang feel like a good couple already...just need to tie the knot.

One thing that bugs me is how everyone is talking about assassinating the emperor. Be it Hilda being worried about it or Reinhard saying he definitely won't do it. That smells of a "yeah, that's going to happen, isn't it?". The most likely candidate to force it is Paul von Oberstein. He seems to be always at the center when bad stuff happens...

The finale, though? That was great, with the battle to try and take Iserlohn by the forces of Kempff Karl Gustav with the help of a warped fortress as a weapon. I knew the thing wasn't going to work out well the moment Reinhard wasn't participating, as they can't show a direct loss of the two protagonists, so they make sure they never have to face a "win or lose" battle.

Oberstein is absolutely the most dangerous person in the story so far. He's clearly planning for things that Reinhard himself doesn't want.

Hilda is probably the most beautiful, but I like Frederica a lot more because she's honest, genuine while Hilda is way too manipulative.

It's nice to see that Julian is growing up to be more like Yang, even if I'm sure he's conflicted by the growth. Also, watching the Rosenritter in action against the enemy forces was impressive; they talked a lot about how elite they were, but we never had the chance to see their strength until now.

Now the fourth season will bring the conclusion of the Iserlohn battle and the beginning of the unraveling of the Free Planets Alliance. I feel that's the most likely situation, considering the head, Job Trunicht, is completely corrupt and Yang Weng-Li isn't willing to become a new Reinhard.

Frederica is not just staying around without doing anything while her husband is being imprisoned without charge. Go go go! Make a ruckus!

A politician being honest? Clearly this series is a work of fiction because they would never admit that. What's next?

This means that eventually we'll probably see Reinhard and Yang Weng-Li working together to stop the Earth cultists and the Fezzam group led by Adrian Rubinsky, but of course that doesn't mean it has to be next season, as the series is technically still going on with a new season (Zoku-hen) already announced.
