Ginga Eiyuu Densetsu: Die Neue These Season 4 - The final war is about to start

I just managed to catch up with the fourth season of Ginga Eiyuu Densetsu: Die Neue These, which finally allows me to catch up with all the content released so far in the series. There is a fifth season planned that was announced in 2023, but no additional info has been shared so far.

This season was, again, Empire-centric, with Reinhard solidifying his control over the nation and preparing the invasion of Alliance territory. The Alliance continues to demonstrate that it is completely useless at everything, to the point that you wonder if all the leaders share a single brain cell.

Hildegard feels like a fish out of water in the empire lines. There's literally only males in the entire cast around there.

Smoking is not good lady! I still don't understand her role aside from being fanservice in a series without much of it.

Fezzan, of course, is in the shadows pulling the strings for its own interest. They kidnap the Emperor to give Reinhard a casus belli to rally the entire population into a massive 100-million-soldier horde to invade, using the Fezzan corridor to avoid the risk of Iserlohn Fortress altogether.

Yang is still conflicted over whether it's worth protecting democracy if it's so corrupt that it actually colludes with enemies, especially considering that Reinhard is treating his own citizens well. I mean, it will still end up in conflict, but I can see why he's thinking about it.

Rubinsky Adrian disappeared at the end of the season, but he's clearly not done yet. What will be his next move?

Reinhard's sister Annerose is at this point out of the picture and we never truly understood what she wanted to do...

My bet is that the end result of the war will be a peace treaty that leaves both countries intact, but how do we get there? Reinhard is going to need a massive loss of people to withdraw from the invasion, and that won't happen unless Yang takes a much more powerful position in the military to muster all their forces.

Job Trunicht has been mostly absent this season, but he's definitely going to be central in the next season because he needs to be brought down from his leadership position. The series is old, but it really shows how populism can capture the hearts of the people and lead them down self-destructive paths.

Please Hildegarde, change Reinhard's brain because he's looking more and more dangerous as things move...

I honestly was expecting him to die in this scene, do you really think it would be so easy to take over Fezzan?

We still don't know where the Earth Cult fits in all this. The safe bet is that they'll be the final boss for both Yang and Reinhard to defeat after the war is settled, but what do they have that makes them such a threat? At the moment, they haven't shown much power, even with their manipulations...
