Onee-chan wa Game wo Suruto Hito ga Kawaru Vol 1,2 - Chihiro is just way too adorable

Oneechan wa Game wo Suru to Hito ga Kawaru is a manga series written by Terada Tsugeo and illustrated by Munyuu. The series currently has five volumes and is still ongoing, even though the releases have been very sparse considering the series started in 2020.

The story follows the life of Toshitake, a high school boy who interacts with his older neighbor, Yuuna Uesawa, whom he calls "older sister" because of their relationship. Yuuna works as a software engineer (Perl/Javascript) and is generally a caring and gentle woman during every encounter.

Himeno Hime is really fun when she goes full old guy mode teasing protagonist.

Yuuna is hot. I mean, there's nothing other to say here, she looks outstanding and I like both the gentle and gaming persona she has!

The issue is that the moment she takes a controller and starts playing, her personality changes completely; she becomes vulgar and stops caring about appearances, often undressing and losing any semblance of personal space with the protagonist, which creates many fanservice scenes.

My first reaction was, "Why Perl/Javascript?!" As you may know from other places where I have mentioned it, I work in the same field, and it always gives me a weird reaction when I see a character in the same line of work as me. It does not really come up again in the story, but I am secretly waiting for it to be relevant at some point.

Aside from Toshitake and Yuuna, there are two other recurring heroines in the story filling the gaps that Yuuna leaves. Chihiro Hino is a childhood friend who is extremely athletic but silent. She represents the "same age" heroine archetype and has a much younger look compared to the voluptuous Yuuna.

Chihiro also allows the story to expand beyond Toshitake's house as she has two school friends that are seemingly very interested in her because of how silent and cool she is whenever at school. They already saw her more energetic self when gaming in a scene of these volumes and I wonder when they'll start interacting with protagonist.

It's inevitable Chihiro and Yuuna, losing means you get to undress. That's the truth behind every Mahjong games! *lies*

Chihiro is a weird type of cute. She's pictured as very shy, but she often reacts to things that are very provoking.

Then there is Himeno Hime, a close friend of Yuuna whose personality can be summarized as an "old geezer." She loves dirty jokes and never misses a chance to tease Toshitake, which is something that Yuuna simply cannot do because she is completely clueless about the fanservice situations she generates. 

The story itself is a collection of comedy skits surrounding the various characters, always adding some new element to keep things fresh and slowly exploring the characters' personalities and quirks. It is generic, but it is fun, and that is usually what I look for in manga, so I am going to keep reading it and writing a few more posts in this space.

There's quite a few costumes in these two volumes, curious to see what other things they'll come out for Yuuna and the others.

Judging from the small preview segment I read, the next volume seems to be focusing a bit more on Chihiro and her two friends spending a day together, and it seems like "love is in the air." Of course, since we are talking about Chihiro, it will probably devolve into some game, but let's see...
