I just finished reading volume 8 of the Sasaki to Piichan (佐々木とピーちゃん) light novel and I really could not wait to write something about it. It was an extremely entertaining volume with some interesting developments, especially on the Magical Girl side of the narrative.

The volume starts with the alien Type12 (Juunishiki) deciding that she wants to go to school. Why? Because she wants to do something she learned about on the internet called "Hime play." This is usually net slang for when a female character gets pampered and protected by multiple male characters in MMORPGs, and Type12 wants to recreate that dynamic in a real high school setting.

Sasaki and the others have no choice but to comply. They want to keep the peace on Earth, and keeping Type12 happy is paramount to achieving that. Therefore, after some preparation by the government agency, they all infiltrate Neighbor's school. Type12 joins as a fellow student, Sasaki and Futari Shizuka enter as teachers, and poor Hoshizaki is stuck working as a janitor.

Sasaki is warned that plenty of agents from foreign countries want to get ahold of Type12, and they will almost surely try to infiltrate the school to reach her. And well, it was a hilarious mess as usual. We had female agents trying to seduce Sasaki who, while denying their advances, for a split second thought he was finally entering his popular phase.

We also get to know a bit more about the reasons why the fairies give the Magical Girls their powers. It seems they want them to collect special entities on Earth called "Fairy Drops." Each of these drops seems to have a completely different power.

In this volume, we get to see an insect-like form of these drops which forces any living being near it to be completely honest. This is actually how Sasaki realized the women approaching him were agents, some were trying to climb the ladder of success, while others were simply forced to do it.

However, the most important development is the clash between Futari Shizuka and Magical Pink. The latter is obsessed with murdering as many psychics as possible to get vengeance for the death of her family, even if the psychics getting killed were not involved with the murders at all.

Futari Shizuka scolds her and, in one instance (heavily influenced by the aphrodisiac food cooked by Elsa), completely breaks her usually calm persona. She goes deep, telling Magical Pink that what she is doing is no different than what those murderers did to her. This did not seem to faze her immediately, even though she retreated.

In a second encounter, though, a much calmer Futari Shizuka proposes a deal: stop killing random psychics, and in exchange, Shizuka will find those actually responsible for the murder and let Pink have her vengeance. This offer, combined with Shizuka not attacking her when she had the chance, managed to make Magical Pink see reason and accept the proposal.

There is also some isekai development in the volume, but it is rather minor in length. The prince that was reduced to a "meat clump" some time ago has finally been restored by Abaddon. He decides to live on Earth to avoid creating trouble for his brother, who just managed to become King. This could spell more interesting events if he becomes a regular character in the cast.

After all the chaos, Type12 learned that direct contact with humans can be risky. However, she still wants to be pampered, so she decides to take a more indirect approach. The next stage of her journey is to become a VTuber and reach popularity through the internet, which is going to be the focus of the next volume.

I already bought the next volume and I am looking forward to reading it in the coming weeks, so wait for another post soon!
