Sasaki to Piichan Vol 12 - Magical Black arrives! The fairy drops are quite scary...
Volume 12 of Sasaki to Piichan (佐々木とピーちゃん) continues from where the story left off with Type-12’s plan to create a propaganda tool. The goal is to accustom the world population to the idea of aliens. This is all to ensure she can show herself more freely to the world (and get pampered, of course).
The idea is simple: the family will divide into groups of two and create various web novels to publish online on the "narou" equivalent of this universe. The one that is most popular after a week will get animated by Type-12 to jumpstart the propaganda effect worldwide. Ironically, Neighbor is the first one to get a publishing offer (which is now her second job after VTubing), while Sasaki is the one who ultimately wins and gets animated.
This seems to work fine at the beginning, but as the group investigates the Fairy Drops, something incredible happens. After recovering a Fairy Drop, Sasaki is changed into an incredibly cute little girl (looking about 11 or 12 years old) on a molecular level. Not even Pii-chan is able to do anything to stop the process.

The investigation continues in order to avoid further problems caused by these Fairy Drops, but eventually, more casualties happen. Hoshizaki becomes a beautiful macho man and Neighbor becomes a wolf. At the same time, Type-12 is working hard to find a way to bring everyone back to normal. She doesn't want her mother to be a macho man and her father to be a child, so it kind of makes sense.
We also get the introduction of the Fairy accompanying Magical Red (Yingling from Volume 10). He is a red panda in terms of looks and talks in a suspiciously friendly way. You know the typical way mascots talk in those magical girl shows, but sounding very fishy and fake at the same time.
The relationship with Type-12 is really strained because of the incident where Magical Red attacked her ship with a magical beam. Type-12 has prepared an army of alien ships and is ready to invade and destroy the Fairy Kingdom if they don't help find a solution for her family's transformation immediately. Of course, the Fairy is terrified at the idea and confirms he will help.

On a side note, we get more development between Futari Shizuka and Magical Pink. They are probably the two who look most like a real family, with Shizuka acting as a grandmother for Magical Pink, who is slowly opening up to her. She even promised not to rummage through garbage bins for food anymore and just ask Shizuka instead! Honestly, it is amazing to see how much things have changed since Magical Pink tried to kill her for being an esper.
Either way, the search finally closes in on the final Fairy Drop that they needed to handle, but this is a very special one that causes people to go crazy temporarily when near it. While escaping, the Fairy Drop arrives above an American military base and causes them to launch an all-out nuclear attack on other countries. The other countries respond, creating panic worldwide.
Type-12 goes to handle the missiles from the other countries, while Sasaki (now wearing a uniform very similar to the other magical girls) goes to stop the missiles launched from Japan. He manages to do it, but the incident makes the rounds online and on TV worldwide, identifying him as "Magical Black", the 8th magical girl.
Hoshizaki acting like an older sister to Sasaki in child form. Honestly ultra cute. This renders the anime that Type-12 built completely useless because society’s focus is now on magical girls becoming public knowledge. However, Type-12 is not someone who stops trying easily, so her next plan seems to be becoming a magical girl herself. I am not sure how serious she is about this, though, but we will see in the coming volumes.
The volume ends with a war about to happen between the Margen Empire and the Hertz Kingdom (where Sasaki conducts most of his activities). Sasaki and Pii-chan would rather avoid another bloodshed, so they decide to collaborate to find the reason behind it and prevent it before it can actually erupt.
The preview of the next volume shows that Sasaki will infiltrate the Margen Empire as a servant. However, his new cute little girl form makes him extremely popular among the royalty, and he becomes fought over by multiple princes. Will Sasaki manage to prevent the war and avoid getting betrothed to some prince?

Seems like it's going to release in Spring 2026, so it won't be too far away. I'm looking forward to reading it immediately once it releases, and I'll make another post here.
