Xal'atath's past and origins

Just watched the bombshell revelation in the Midnight expansion revealing that Xal'atath was actually a mortal of a humanoid race before being a blade in the black empire and then the void lord she is now. Her world was destroyed and she died in rage for her being unable to do anything. From there, she realized that survival was all that matter in the end and she's adamant in making sure she'll survive against all odds.
I'm still unsure about her real goal though, she's coveting the Sunwell for more power, but what's the end goal? Surely it can't be something as simple as "destroy Azeroth" as that wouldn't fit with the "survive" narrative she's been pushing. Is there something bigger to fight that requires all this energy?

This was made to try and get the Ethereals to work with her, but of course it's her own word so there may have been, like usual, some level of "unspoken" information that may cause drift in interpretation. You know, like how she helped kill Dimensius, but only because she wanted to take his place.

This has been the most important revelation so far in the campaign of Midnight and I'm sure it'll be much more important once we get to the season where we'll face directly against her in a raid battle.
