Arknights Endfield 1.3 Camille Story - Vampires! Ok, this was better...
As you may remember from our last post about Arknights Endfield, I wasn't impressed with the handling of Mi Fu’s story, so I came into Camille’s story already prepared to bash it. The beginning was kind of soporific and I was already worried, but once the initial "chase" ended and Camille was alone in the mansion, things became more interesting.
The story follows the typical cliché of sibling rivalry, with some prophecy sprinkled in and misunderstandings within the family. Camille is a relatable character with clear motives that work well in guiding the storyline, unlike Ardashir, for example, who loves vague-posting.

It was a bit of a shame that we never actually got to see the sibling in action, instead only facing a generic NPC and an image of him. However, learning step by step what happened to their family and their faction served as the hook, with all the various papers spread around the mansion for the player to read.
To be completely honest, overall it does feel like these side stories are on the cheaper side in terms of production value compared to the main story. This is unlike, say, Wuthering Waves, where even the side missions feel indistinguishable from the main ones. But honestly? I'd be glad if they toned the production down and instead focused more on the story; that's what I'm here for, after all.

If I had to complain about one thing specifically, it would be the whole Sarkaz lore that they kept repeating. I know it refers to a race in the original Arknights, but I never really went deep into it to learn. The game could have benefited from introducing the concept in the main game instead of using this side story for it as well.
Now we wait for the upcoming 1.4 patch, which will give us two new playable characters: Li Zhiyan from the Yinglung Special Task Force (whom we saw in the main story already) and a mysterious idol character about whom we don't really know anything aside from a few pictures.

I'm honestly pretty short on rolls to get them, but I never went and explored the full Wuling like I should have in the past few patches. There should probably be enough in there to fill an entire spark. The issue is finding enough time to actually go through all of it.
