Arknights Endfield 1.3 Patch Story - Mi Fu story was honestly a borefest

Patch 1.3 of Arknights: Endfield is here, and I was actually looking forward to seeing what they would reveal about Mi Fu's past and what adventures they would add to the story. Wow, this was an absolute borefest this time around; it is absolutely the worst side story they have delivered in the game.

Mi Fu was trained by three masters with different abilities. Now that they are back in town, they have kidnapped Zhuang Fangyi and want to fight her. Yeah, it's a Sun Wukong-inspired plot, and it's terribly handled. The story uses slow walking segments to try to extend the runtime, but it's still only an hour long even with those.

The teachers are as archetypal as possible: the strong one, the fast one, and the smart one. Of course, Zhuang Fangyi wasn't really captured; she played along. The final battle is against her, and then everyone is happy and returns to their lives, with the connection between Wuling and the Stockade stronger than before.
The only highlight of the story was a few cute scenes with Tangtang. Her betting everything and then losing was classic Tangtang.

I don't dislike her design though, Mi Fu looks good and I would've liked to see more of her and less of the whole master thing.

I hate to say it, but the "curse of the Chinese area" is a real thing in Chinese gacha games. Every single game I've played has had a terrible Chinese-inspired area. Be it Liyue in Genshin Impact, the Xianzhou Luofu in Honkai: Star Rail, Huanglong in Wuthering Waves, and now Wuling in Arknights: Endfield.

I can't understand why this is the case, but it seems to be pretty much universal. Maybe they become too defensive when it comes to their home region to avoid getting on the wrong side of the authorities? It's not just me complaining; it seems like even Chinese forums are unhappy with how this story was handled.

We didn't even get much interaction between Tangtang and Mi Fu which was the highlight in other chapters. I was hoping they'd delve a bit into their childhood and friendship before Mi Fu went to Wuling, but nothing. Absolutely nothing; everything was about the three masters and their trials. Disappointing.

Endmin is always cute, not sure why, but her clothes inspire me an unwavering will to hug her.

The mastermind behind this entire patch, was she THAT bored of office work to enlist this entire farce?

Now we get back to the waiting room to see what they deliver next. I'm honestly worried that all the Wuling patches will be this poor in quality. I'm not that excited about Camille either, as the design is just too generic for my taste. I guess I'll go back to the cave and wait for the next patch while farming equipment for Mi Fu...
