Arknights: Endfield - Rossi's side story was ultra cute. She's the Red Caped Hero!
Rossi has arrived in Arknights: Endfield, and aside from rolling for her, the developers also delivered a small side story, just like they did for Gilberta and the other characters released recently. The formula is very similar, meaning slightly less than two hours of story centered on Endmin spending a day with her while completing a mission.
In this case, the mission involved retrieving an important item stolen by the Bonecrushers—or so it seemed, until we discovered that some children had taken it. They are treating it as their scepter and force Endmin and Rossi to go through a series of trials to get it back without a fight.

They must retrieve the "holy sword" from a high place and the "shield" from a "duke" (another child). It is the typical make-believe play that children love. Rossi is initially reticent, but she soon gets into it, and you can see her inner child waking up to the adventure.
Apparently, she never experienced a normal childhood because she is the future Capo of her pack, and she secretly longed for a moment to relax and play without a care. The side story plays out exactly like a fairy tale, and even though there were some Bonecrushers to defeat in the end, it was mostly a lighthearted display of her character.
It is interesting how they designed an entire complicated dungeon for this story alone; it reminds me of how Genshin Impact usually handles its side stories. It is a nice display of effort, and I have to say that the "secret base" feel was very well done and managed to immerse me in the play.
Rossi is proud and often acts older than she actually is. But when you see her excited face at the various wonders of the children's secret base (see attached video), it is just too cute! She even managed to act like an older sister to the kids by showing her prowess in battle and narrating a small story about a wolf cub to make them feel safe.

I still feel that length is something they need to work on; less than two hours is a very short time, and it is hard to deliver something well-structured in such a small window. It may work for characters who have had enough presence in the story, like Rossi, but for others (like Gilberta), it is really a failure.
Now we go back to the waiting area for the next patch, 1.2. I am curious about which characters will be released. I am speculating that Mifu may be one of them, considering her close relationship with Tangtang, but I am not sure about the second character.

It feels too early for Fangyi because she is the "main" character of this zone, and they will probably save her for when she reaches the climax of the story. With the current pace, that means 1.3 or even 1.4, depending on the pace they take in the next few patches.
