FX Senshi Kurumi-chan Ep.03 - Mochiko, what did you mean by that?!
Episode 3 of FX-Senshi Kurumi-chan delivers another intensely dramatic installment, with Kurumi actually doing the very thing we were all hoping was just a fake-out cliffhanger at the end of the previous episode. It turns out that, yes, she steals her father's money in a desperate attempt to save her open position.
It works out, of course, because otherwise the series would already be over. But will this close call actually make her understand what she did, or will it only embolden her to use even more dangerous tactics in future story arcs? Kurumi doesn't seem like the sharpest tool in the shed when it comes to financial literacy...

Her friend Mochiko turns out to be even worse, as she was basically hoping Kurumi would lose everything just so she could feed on her despair. She was visibly upset when it turned out that Kurumi managed to survive. What kind of friend are you if that's how you think?
In all of this, the only true victim is Kurumi's dad. He busts his back working day and night to save money; first his wife blows it all on FX, and now his daughter steals his savings for FX gambling too. Will she actually give a share of the winnings back to her dad, or will she keep everything for herself and act like nothing ever happened?
I'm leaning toward the latter, considering how this series has been going. People often talk about Yani Neko as a series depicting degenerate people with terrible habits, but damn, Kurumi could probably top most of that cast with her lack of impulse control, don't you think?
In the next episode, it seems we'll finally get the introduction of another major character. Yamashi Mebuki made a brief appearance right at the end of the episode, foreshadowing her prominent role in the next chapter of this twisted story. She seems quite innocent, but appearances...

We also got to see Takane Yasuko losing money at the same time as Kurumi as a sort of sideshow, though she hasn't officially interacted with the main cast yet since her scenes were isolated to her own room. I still can't believe she's supposedly 20 years old, though; she barely looks 14 given the cute art style of this show.
