FX Senshi Kurumi-chan Ep.04 - Kurumi, come on. Mochiko is evil!
Episode 4 of FX-Senshi Kurumi-chan continues with the expected introduction of Mebuki as a new addition to the cast, and honestly, she's even worse than I imagined. I mean, she was bound to trade FX, so there had to be some flaw in her personality, but damn if she isn't another truly "interesting" individual.
Mebuki is essentially the quintessential clueless investor: the type who jumps in purely because they heard they could make a fortune without putting in any effort whatsoever. She just wants someone else to tell her what to buy, when to sell, and let her reap the profits. Wait, is it at least her own money?

Of course not; she's using her scholarship money to gamble, and yes, she's trading at 500x leverage because anything lower would apparently be an insult. Joking aside, it feels like the author is actively collecting every possible "landmine" girl under one roof. Between the three main leads properly introduced so far, we have one of the most disastrous combinations of personalities I've ever seen in anime.
Mochiko is literally a walking hazard. She lures people into FX trading, getting off on the idea of them losing everything. She lured Kurumi into that disastrous trade, pushed Mebuki into 500x leverage, and finally used sweet words to drag Kurumi right back into the market immediately after her father scolded her.
Kurumi herself isn't much better. She received a severe scolding from her father for literally stealing his savings to gamble on FX (even if she intended to return them), and what does she do just minutes later? She immediately contemplates trading again, to the point of experiencing genuine withdrawal symptoms.
I don't expect Mebuki to fail immediately; she seems like the type to invest completely at random, score massive beginner's luck profits, and serve as an intoxicating benchmark that lures Kurumi into even more dangerous positions in the coming weeks. That's probably exactly why Mochiko sent her in Kurumi's direction.

Honestly, I'm impressed by the series' quality so far, but at the same time, I have to pause every few minutes because it's just so painful to watch them make these terrible life choices. I think the term for it is secondhand embarrassment, or something along those lines.
