Grow Up Show: Himawari no Circus Ep.03 - Confirmed yuri! Some reprieve...
Episode 3 of Grow Up Show: Himawari no Circus continues exactly as we predicted, with the show exploring other characters in the circus troupe and their relationships and pasts. This time, the focus is on Sakawa Shizuku and Svetlana, who are another pretty much confirmed yuri couple in the series.
Shizuku apparently performed much more extreme acts when she was younger, which caused her to sustain an injury and eventually be excluded from the troupe she was performing with because they wanted to focus on safety above the performance itself, and Shizuku’s stubbornness didn’t help.

Honestly, I relate more to the latter perspective compared to Shizuku’s; risking your life for a performance seems counterintuitive. Providing a great performance while ensuring no one gets hurt is the most important part, isn't it? There's no point if you risk falling and turning it into a horror show for the viewers.
I'm curious to see if this is touched upon later in the series. The two main heroines are talented and seem pretty much invincible in the spotlight, but surely there will be some dramatic moments later on to spice up the narrative. Will it touch on these topics, or will it be solely about their relationship and friendship?
Of course, Mizuka and Ouka's relationship and growth continue to take center stage, and more people (like Mutsumi) are noticing how Mizuka is the one setting everything up for Ouka to shine. Despite trying to stay in the shadows, she is getting more and more attention from other teams.
By the way, the show continues to deliver cute scenes all around while still including a bit of fanservice here and there. We got a bath scene this week and a weird scene with Mizuka completely naked on stage due to having to switch costumes with Shizuku. It's not over the top when it comes to fanservice, which makes it feel actually interesting.

Now that the immediate money problem is solved, the next episode will focus on the growth of the heroines, and we'll probably see more focus on the younger set of girls in the troupe. How are they going to compete with the other teams if only Ouka and Mizuka seem to be good enough to put on a show?
