Grow Up Show: Himawari no Circus Ep.07 - That was it? Really Mitscher?!
Episode 7 of Grow Up Show: Himawari no Circus explained everything about Mizuka's past, and honestly, it felt sappy for no reason. The way the episode was laid out felt a lot like plot device after plot device to try and move things without having a credible base. It honestly irritated me quite a bit, despite still liking the overall show.
The main thing that makes me feel stupid is the 'oh, but Svetlana was super good and clearly only didn't do her job because of Ouka' plot device used during the confrontation. We had the Sumeragi circus at the edge of bankruptcy until Mizuka arrived at the beginning of the series, and not even once did it cross their minds to try using this skill? Clearly, only NOW was the moment to use it? Like, really?

Add to that the selfish reasons of her father with the closing of the entire circus because 'I'm getting too old,' literally throwing everyone under the bus, including his own daughter. And you would assume that if he retired, he would take the job of being a father seriously, but no,he simply leaves his minor daughter alone while showering her in debt while he goes and fucks off somewhere.
How am I supposed to take him and Mitscher seriously at any point, considering the latter talks like her father did nothing wrong? Then we add the cheesy and melodramatic 'oh, Mizuka's performance is not good because she doesn't think of the smile of the people.' Like, really? What's next? The magic of friendship?
Next episode will be the 'moment of magic' with Mizuka wanting to be on stage, her performance attracting visitors, and eventually the confrontation with the Blue Rose leader, Sumeragi Nanami, who wants to take Ouka away from the Himawari Circus for undisclosed reasons.
It has to be a new level of petty to move your own circus venue to a place that is going to generate a loss just to spite others and hope another circus closes down. I'm sure there have to be other reasons behind it, right? Surely it isn't simply because of some obsession with Ouka...

I'm confused about where the series wants to go, though, because we're still at episode 7, and within a few episodes it'll solve the main plot of the story (Mizuka being unwilling to perform). How are they going to fill the remaining episodes until the end of the season?
