Kamiina Botan, Yoeru Sugata wa Yuri no Hana Ep.05 - Kanade x Ibuki! That final scene...so yuri!
Episode 5 of Kamiina Botan: Yoeru Sugata wa Yuri no Hana delivers another solid episode, this time focused on Kanade and Ibuki's complicated relationship. As I said last week, I'm not really sure about the whole Ibuki x Botan ship, and this episode only proved to me that Kanade works better with Ibuki, too.
Kanade wants to be near Ibuki and wants to connect with her by drinking together, but there is something blocking Ibuki from doing that. It's still not clear what the blocker is, but there seems to be some improvement in this episode, at the very least. We'll see if this translates into something more down the line.

Honestly, just making Kanade the new main heroine and having her end up with both Botan and Ibuki seems like the best solution to me. Joking aside, it was quite a nice episode with the two traveling together, featuring a final scene that left its mark with Ibuki first refusing to drink with her and then realizing what she did, picking up Kanade's cigarette, and taking a single puff herself.
The scenery and art direction were on point and yet again delivered a completely new experience. Except for the third episode, they have all been pretty solid, but I'm always wary whenever I open a new episode, wondering if this week it'll be good or some weird animation attempt.
There were a few other interesting scenes in the episode, of course. I really liked when Akane was all excited talking to Botan about an artist she likes and what happened. She really changes personality from her cool self whenever she's talking about something she's engrossed in.
They also hinted about a foreign student coming soon, which suggests the arrival of the last girl of the group, named Chang Chin-lan. She looks like a normal lady from the preview art that I saw, but who knows who her yuri partner in the group is going to be (because it's certain it'll be involved somehow).

The triangle between Kanade, Ibuki, and Botan seems hard to break, so I wonder if she's going toward the Yaeka/Akane side of the story. Even though I wouldn't dislike them spicing up the triangle into something even more complicated. Either way looking forward for more.
