Kamiina Botan, Yoeru Sugata wa Yuri no Hana Ep.12 - Disappointing ending to be honest.

Episode 12 of Kamiina Botan: Yoeru Sugata wa Yuri no Hana is complete, and I'm not sure exactly what I was expecting from it, as it ended on the exact same notes as the previous episodes. The visual style was new, but honestly, at this point, I doubt anyone cares about it anymore.

The progression was a duplicate of the last few episodes: the first half was dedicated to Kanade and Chin-lan, with some nice progress in their relationship, even though everything feels very forced. I liked the two trying to find something to share, but Kanade’s behavior is not really believable considering how obsessed she was with Ibuki until recently.

Drinking never gets old in this series, Ibuki and Botan are cute, I can say that at least. Not sure if it helps though...

We still don't know what exactly sparked something in Ibuki for Botan. Was it looks? It was all about looks wasn't it? Ahah.

Then, the second half focused on Botan and Ibuki: the usual misunderstandings, a bit of rejection, and eventually a happy ending with a fade to black for their night together. The previous episode's scenes (the crying one, for example) were never explained, and we are just expected to accept that "it's all good now."

I feel there was no real development in the characters' personalities; they are and were completely flat. Sure, Ibuki can drink with other people now, apparently? But the whole debacle surrounding it was so ridiculous that it's hard to believe it was an issue in the first place. She stopped because some unknown jerk told her to stop hiccuping once? Really?

Sharing books between Kanade and Chin-lan was cute, I have to say that. Even though the topic couldn't be more boring. View video page

And then Yaeka and Akane—of course, they got a whole lot of... nothing. Just like in the last few episodes, they aren't even side characters; at this point, we can consider them extras, just there to ensure the building has other people aside from the main two couples.

It's a shame, as I was curious to know more about their dynamics, but we got nearly nothing in the entire series—maybe half an episode once with some jealousy, and the rest were small cameos in the middle of the other characters' arcs. That's really harsh. I wonder if the manga is the same.

When Ibuki refused Botan at first in this scene, I was like 'oh god, just get on and move on girl'.

Chin lan being the one in charge is a nice dynamic that made the story with Kanade more interesting.

Of course, I will never know because I don't intend on picking up the manga; the anime burned me enough that I don't want to enter the same cycle of hate and disappointment in the manga too. I'm sure there are people who like this, but I still can't find a reason for it. Hopefully, there is a better yuri series coming next season...
