Kanan-sama wa Akumade Choroi Ep.02 - Ami's charm is undeniable.

Episode 02 of Kanan-sama wa Akumade Choroi continues, as expected, with the introduction of Ami, a succubus working as a personal maid for Kanan. Her design is traditional for a character in this role: seductive, hot, teasing her master, and never missing an opportunity to stir up trouble.

However, she is a good woman at heart, as shown by how many of her scenes turn out to be completely harmless despite being very easy to misunderstand. Of course, she is still a succubus, seducing is part of her job, and, believe me, she is very good at it.

Ami's succubus form is quite impressive. You know I'm not a fan of the succubus archetype, but she looks good.

Apparently Ami is loved by her coworkers and well accepted by pretty much everyone who meets her.

In this early stage of the story, she is the perfect spice to make things more dynamic between Kanan and Youji, especially since there are too few characters to have an organic plot yet. I feel she becomes underutilized later in the series due to the appearance of more popular characters, but she remains one of my favorites overall.

Kanan seeing her as a threat to Youji's love is interesting because Kanan realizes that Ami is beautiful and very open to "snacks." She does not outright hate or avoid her, though; she is just worried. Not that it would affect Youji; he has had eyes only for Kanan since the very start.

I've seen a lot of anime protagonists, but Youji seems to be on a complete different scale already. How does he manage that?! View video page

Youji's "harem power" seen in this episode (see attached video) was something I did not remember from the manga at all. I mean, I knew that he was liked by Jeanne and other heroines, but outright attracting girls one after another like a magnet? It has been a long while since I read the first volume, though.

Now, the next episode is, I think, the introduction of Jeanne, which is a great plot movement because it shows the first real opponent for Kanan. While Ami's teasing is nice, Jeanne is direct in her will to pursue Youji, which, in turn, makes Kanan more serious about her feelings. Of course, small tiny steps, nothing revolutionary.

Fanservice has been quite light so far to be honest, I remember the manga being way more ecchi though. Maybe it's later in the volumes?

Her choroi power though, that is definitely the same. It's hard to even comprehend how someone can be this choroi.

So far, the adaptation has been top-tier; the animation is smooth, and the seiyuu are doing a great job bringing the roles to life. Kanan, in particular, with her wide range of voices depending on her emotions, is a highlight. Now, I am really curious to see the voices of the other heroines in action, especially Jeanne and Milch.
