Keijo - What the hell did I watch?Nov 14, 2025, 10:57:04 AM

About a month ago, I finished watching Keijo!!!!!!!! for the very first time, and I figured I’d give it a small post today just to highlight how absolutely hilarious and over-the-top this series is. The story follows Nozomi Kaminashi, who enrolls in the Setouchi Keijo Training School with the goal of becoming the greatest Keijo player in the world.

So, what exactly is Keijo? It’s a women-only competitive sport where participants stand atop circular platforms floating in a pool and try to knock their opponents off using only their breasts or buttocks. Yes, really, that’s the premise. It’s technically a sports anime set in a training academy, but with rules like that, it’s almost impossible to take it seriously (and honestly, that’s part of the charm).

Gilgamesh should sue to be honest.

Each character has her own ridiculous “special techniques,” which makes things even more absurd and fun. Nozomi wields the legendary “Vacuum Butt Cannon”, Sayaka Miyata has the “Wedgie Release”, and Kazane Aoba uses the “Scanning Hand”, which lets her copy other players’ moves (culminating in the magnificent “Gate of Bootylon” which is yes, a direct Fate/stay night reference). Just when you think the show can’t get any crazier, it somehow manages to outdo itself.

A normal farm. Everyone knows these
I don't know why, but this is quite hot.

Does it actually work? Well… if you turn your brain off and just enjoy the comedy, overblown action, and wild cultural references, then yes, it’s a blast. It’s the kind of anime that knows exactly what it is and fully commits to the bit, which makes it strangely endearing in its own chaotic way.

My favorite character is definitely Sayaka Miyata, I'm weak to these "cool" type characters and how they get embarrassed when things go south for comedy effect. Plus her special move is quite...cool I guess?

Friendly hugs!
Training is important!

The manga runs for 18 volumes, and I’m honestly tempted to pick it up just to see how much further the madness goes after the anime’s ending. If I do, you can bet I’ll make a follow-up post or two about it here, ahah.
