Kuroneko to Majo no Kyoushitsu Ep.19 - Spica's first victory! Ruby!
Episode 19 of Kuroneko to Majo no Kyoshitsu shows the first victory for Spica against enemies supposedly much stronger than her, using wits, magic, and the skills she has grown over these many weeks. I remember just a few days ago complaining about a spontaneous power-up in Black Torch, and well, this is exactly how to give proper progression to a character.
The episode is centered entirely around the Ruby gem, with Ewe, Capella, and Leo giving chase to a giant bird carrying the gem. This bird is covered in a strong armor that makes it impervious to most attacks. The episode was one amazing battle after another, and I was really unsure about which bit to take for the video of this post.

Ewe using blue fire magic for the first time was cool, but I loved Capella and Leo sticking to the bird's wings to slow it down, too. In the end, the best part was Spica using fake child birds to lure the mom bird and then imprison her in a cage of wood, using the entire forest as a weapon. Ewe tried to burn it down, to no avail.
We also had a small scene with Hana looking cool fighting an enemy at first and then hilariously adorable when she was scared of a small spider. Between all the heroines, she's definitely the one that looks the most like "girlfriend" material for Spica. Oh, and Io built a house on the beach to invite everyone else; I guess she is not concerned with the race at all.
Aria was completely absent from this episode, aside from a mention by Claude showing that she's at the top of the rankings in terms of points. Claude pointed out that the continuous use of powerful magic is going to take a toll on Aria, even with her incredible reserves. Will that be enough to allow Spica to win?
Next episode is titled "Finding the Diamond," and the focus moves to the chase for the diamond, which is the most valuable gem and the key to becoming first in the final rankings. Spica and Aria are absolutely going to clash in battle here to change the power dynamics between the two friends.

Somehow, though, I feel that between the two fighting, someone else might sneak in and be the one that actually wins first place. Somehow, I can't see Spica finishing first because of her personality, but Aria winning would not change the status quo, so it's unlikely as well. Therefore...
