Mata Korosarete Shimatta no desu ne, Tantei-sama Ep.02 - Mystery solved, but that ending...

Episode 2 of Mata Korosarete Shimatta no desu ne, Tantei-sama (Killed Again, Mr. Detective) completes the first chapter and sets up the story ahead in a masterful way. As expected, this first story was just a taste of what is to come, providing the basic elements and motivations for Sakuya's investigations.

It turns out the murder was an inside job, as the victim's company was involved in shady dealings and they wanted to silence him. The culprit (the mother) was arrested, and the entire situation was made public, destroying the company. It is a standard premise and not really important to what this first case was supposed to demonstrate.

Seems like Lilithea is a bit the 'jealous' kind. Nothing unredeemable though, *head pats*

Poor girl though, I wonder what will happen now that the company goes under and mother is arrested.

The first thing shown was the "gimmick" of the series: Sakuya's death was completely erased within a very short time, which makes me wonder exactly what is going on with his body. The series has been more or less grounded in reality, except for him; he did not even die despite flying straight into a burning plane.

The second objective was to establish the relationship between Lilithea and Sakuya. While Sakuya is supposedly the detective, Lilithea looks to be far more apt at investigation than he is. She seems to be skilled in combat and in detecting small changes around her. The connection between her and Sakuya's dad bugs me.

Yuriu was very cute here, but Lilithea sniping the mask from that distance? Downright impressive, just how much does she like playing darts I wonder?! View video page

The finale delivers the twist that we were all expecting: Sakuya's dad "died" in the plane crash and left it to Sakuya to continue his legacy. I say "died" because the way he perished, with a plane crashing right in front of Sakuya, feels far too on the nose, leading me to assume the event could have been staged.

But what could be his reasons for staging his death in front of his son? Who are these criminals he was investigating at the behest of the government? There are many questions and very few answers, but I hope they will slowly reveal more in the coming weeks.

Sometimes Lilithea's reactions are a weird type of scaroused. Mannerism and all.

Am I the only one still doubting Yuriu? She feels way too moe to be a normal girl. I will stand corrected if nothing ever happens.

By the way, so far, Yuriu is turning out to be just a cute, normal girl, even risking her life to help Sakuya. She is like a mascot character at this point, but a part of me does not want to give up my speculation that she may not be just a random girl buzzing around Sakuya.
