Today I completed the Akina route in the Mirai Radio to Jinkou-bato visual novel that I last covered here. I have to say that while it revealed a few interesting new details about the protagonist, the route was mostly focused on Akina's personal story and less on the overarching plot.
Akina's story is a direct continuation from the choice that led us into Mizuki's route. This time, instead of staying with Mizuki, we go and help Akina with the radio show she has been continuing in our stead. Through this process, we get healed by her in terms of recovering our voice and the other senses.
She looks quite professional here! Her story is focused mostly (aside from the obvious romance with Sora) on Akina's relationship with her own father. He was a victim of a disease that has affected multiple people on Earth since the incident, leaving them unable to hold more than a single day of memories. As a result, he doesn't remember Akina at all. Sora helps in that regard by using some programming tools (connected to the device the father uses to live) to give him some hints to remember her, at least partially, for a limited amount of time.
Sora seems convinced that solving the Artificial Pigeon situation will eventually help these people too, but I am not exactly sure how that is going to work in practice. I also have to say that the protagonist being able to go in and reprogram a custom tool from years ago was... kind of convenient. But eh, maybe there is something we don't know about his background yet?
It's a nice way to wake up?
Cute kiss!During the recovery process, Sora realizes something is wrong with his memories. It is not just the memories of last July with the Kaguya incident that are fuzzy, but even before that. He remembers he was a survivor of the plane crash that happened 15 years ago, but according to the news and what Akina says, she is the only survivor.
So who is Sora? What was the event that he was actually involved in? He has memories of a woman (probably his mother) protecting him and dying with lots of blood in the process, but his memories don't get any clearer and the route doesn't seem to pursue the mystery further.
What's up with his hair I wonder...
Toward the future! This makes me lean even more on my speculation that the connection between the pigeons and Sora is stronger than what everyone in the story knows so far. Of course, the next route is going to be Asami, who was involved with the people that built the original project.
This could possibly give us some more insight about what is happening before the grand finale with Kaguya's route and the successive final route. I will start with the new route soon and I hope to be back for another post in the coming weeks.
