Ponkotsu Skirt Ep.01 - Poemu is great, but Motoko and Rui are also so entertaining.

Episode 01 of Ponkotsu Fuuki Iin to Skirt-take ga Futekisetsu na JK no Hanashi (often abbreviated as Ponkotsu Skirt or PonSuka) starts strong, delivering comedy, cuteness, and a set of extremely entertaining characters for a series that is looking to become one of the best comedies of this Spring 2026 anime season.

The series is based on a manga written and illustrated by Yokota Takuma that started serializing in 2019; it currently has 20 volumes and is still ongoing. Considering the good impression this first episode made on me, I'm absolutely going to read the entire series to see more of the comedy.

In this picture Poemu and the others look like the yankee boss with the two underlings.

True power coming from Poemu to avoid being carried to the nurse office by them. Undertandable!

The story follows a cute high school girl named Kohinata Poemu as she is constantly lectured by the strict disciplinary officer Sakuradaimon Tougo because of her attire and hair color when going to school. The two are initially "enemies," but they quickly become more friendly as they get to know each other better, and it becomes a light romantic comedy.

Poemu is a mix between a gal and a yankee. She acts tough, but she's actually ultra-sweet inside. I quite like her clothes in the first scene with the panda-themed jacket; it gives her a more childish look which contrasts with the personality she shows whenever interacting with Tougo.

She's quite easy tor read Poemu which is good in these cases. Shame that protagonist is as dense as a rock. The perfect couple I say! View video page

Honestly, it was way more fun than I expected it to be. Poemu is a very choroi heroine, falling for Tougo quite quickly, but she isn't admitting to it yet. Her way of reacting to embarrassment is usually violence toward males, which fits the old stereotypical main heroine from '90s anime.

Her two friends, Akina Motoko and Tasaki Rui, are both ultra-fun and look like the standard friends for this type of story. Both seem to be at the center of a lot of the comedy in the series, especially when it comes to teasing Poemu about something related to Tougo. I quite like Motoko myself, but I'm still waiting to see more to decide on my favorite heroine.

Motoko and Rui are both ultra supportive of Poemu and it's nice to see friends like this even though they often tease her.

Motoko fell for the Izubuchi Yuu after being grabbed while she was falling. Choroi! It was the cutest shot from the episode.

I'm looking forward to seeing what happens next week; I've had a look at the character list and there are lots of very interesting faces in there that I'm sure will deliver plenty of comedy for us. I'm not sure how easy it'll be to cover weekly due to the light type of content and lack of a big cohesive storyline, but I'll give it a try.
