I just finished reading Volumes 6 and 7 of the manga series Seitokai ni mo Ana wa Aru (生徒会にも穴はある!) that we talked about in a recent post. I have to say that the author is really good at keeping your attention with both fanservice and comedy while still giving small developments to the romance sub-story.

Volume 6 continues from where we left off with the Student Council going to have some fun at a beach. We see Hisako Kotobuki sport quite an insane swimsuit (see screenshot below), ending up getting REALLY embarrassed and sulking for most of the day. I mean, it is your usual comedy/ecchi scene setup, but the interesting part doesn't start until later.

The day after, Ume Mizunoe (the protagonist) involuntarily says that she was "really hot" while they were joking about it to break the tension. Both sides went "Oh damn, I said something I shouldn't have," showing that they are really thinking about the other side in that way. It is the sort of situation that makes you want to scream, "Just get together already!"

The introduction of Ume's older sister Shou was also quite nice on this front as it shows how much Hisako is getting stalker-ish with him. It was meant to be a purely comedic segment with Shou acting as the judge of his friends by holding a contest like those TV Quiz shows, all focused on "knowledge about Ume."

The issue is, she wasn't expecting Hisako to even know the pattern of his favorite underwear or even his precise visual acuity scores. She seems to be very interested in Hisako after learning she likes Ume, and I am curious to see how she will interact with the Student Council in the future. She could be an ally for Hisako... or maybe just someone who will tease her to no end.

The other interesting part was the "Secret Casino Club" arc where Komaro Michinoku and the other members of the Student Council go to investigate this mysterious club. It was rumored to be "bringing ruin to other students by getting them in debt for 50+ school lunch tickets". It was mostly a comedic segment, but it introduced Shiomi Shio as the new character leading this club.

One of the issues with this manga is exactly adding many minor characters that are hard to remember because they only appear for a scene or two, but Shio really struck me. Both because of her looks (long straight hair and a bit gloomy eyes) and because of her large frame glasses. I honestly can't remember many times where a character had these in the recent past.

I am really curious to know when the anime series is going to air as I am excited to see Hisako and Komaro animated. They announced it back in April 2025, but we still haven't got any info about exactly WHEN it is going to air or details about who the voice artists are. I feel it has to be around 2026, but who knows?

Either way, the manga is solid and I am looking forward to reading more volumes in the near future and making another post about it here. I still have 4 volumes to go before catching up fully.
