Seitokai ni mo Ana wa Aru - Komaro is so cute and huggable!

Seitokai ni mo Ana wa Aru! (生徒会にも穴はある!) is an ongoing manga series with 11 volumes to date, written and illustrated by Muchimaro. I found it by pure coincidence back in 2023, and it was love at first sight with the characters. I have only read five volumes so far, but I plan on continuing very soon.

The story follows the life of Ume Mizunoe, a student interested in books who gets forced to join the student council to avoid having to repeat a year. The issue is that the people in this student council are all... kind of weird, which makes his life a lot more complicated than he was expecting.

We have:

Hisako Kotobuki

A third-year student and the Student Council President. She is extremely good at anything she does, be it academics or sports, but she is completely unaware of anything romantic. This makes her extremely easy to embarrass whenever Ume is around.

Arisu Terui

A second-year student and the Student Council Treasurer. She comes from a very rich family and seems to have the power to move people around (or make them disappear). She is the "cool" type character, even if she loses her cool sometimes when it comes to her... modest chest.

Komaro Michinoku

A first-year student and member of the student council. She is very small but compensates with huge "assets" and is generally an extremely sweet and reserved girl. She is sort of the mascot of the group and really gives off the "I want to protect her at all costs" vibes. Her parents were killed in a plane crash back when she was young.

Satomi Hirasaka

Ume's homeroom teacher and the advisor for the student council. She has an extremely lazy personality (especially at home) and is currently Komaro's guardian. They live together, though it is not fully certain who is taking care of whom considering her personality.

Tan Otori

A third-year junior high school student who serves as the student council PR officer. He may look like a girl and act like a girl, but don't be fooled! He is not one!

This is a 4koma comedy series, so expect lots of small skits similar to what you would see in other series with a similar setting (like Seitokai Yakuindomo). However, while sticking to this format, it also allows the relationships between the characters to slowly evolve over the course of the volumes.

Up to the point where I read, Hisako was completely in love with Ume and there were some small developments in that area. And considering there is no really competition there (Komaro is a small adorable animal while Arisu is not really interested), I can see this ending up being the official couple.

I really suggest giving it a shot. There is an anime adaptation planned to be released soon, so it may work as a great introduction for you.
