Seitokai ni mo Ana wa Aru Vol 8,9 - Komaro's scenes were so emotional. Good girl!
Volumes 8 and 9 of Seitokai ni mo Ana wa Aru (生徒会にも穴はある!) deliver another nice set of stories, further expanding the world around the student council, adding new characters, and developing existing ones. The first segment that I really liked was when the group went to the Arisu mansion to train for the upcoming dodgeball match, at the suggestion of Komaro.
The mansion was, of course, gigantic, but the most interesting part was not that; it was the fact that the personal maid of Arisu's mom was wearing only an apron. Ume brushed it off as "rich people things," but is it really? I'm not complaining, just curious here.

Arisu's maid also seemed interested in Ume as a possible husband for Arisu. It was just a small mention at the end, but who knows what she may be planning for him? Arisu herself is still one of the least involved with Ume, at least when compared to Hisako (love love) and Komaro (basically his daughter at this point).
Speaking of Komaro, right after that, she invited him to go with her "somewhere." He was wary at first, but it turned out she wanted to bring him to the grave of her parents, who died in an airplane accident. Honestly, at times, I forget how tragic Komaro's backstory is, losing her parents so young and still trying hard while remembering their words.

The relationship between the two took a huge step forward thanks to this visit; sure, she is always sitting on top of him, but it was clear from their interaction that it wasn't just that. Even Hisako realized it and started to become increasingly jealous, until she realized what was happening and backed down.
Which brings us to her, who is, at this point, clearly the main heroine of the story. While Ume looks blushingly toward Komaro and Arisu as well, the difference in how Hisako is pushed by the author makes it clear that she is the one who will end up with him at some point. I think they make a great match, but they have to adopt Komaro as their daughter for me to accept this relationship. *stares*

Oh, and a special mention should be given to the small segment featuring Hisako's little brother. Aside from him starting to develop his first crush on Houjou Youka, a 193 cm high school girl, he also allowed us to see more about the inner workings of Hisako's family. Honestly, Hisako's mother, Mayuki, is way too much fun; I can see where her daughter got her personality.
There are three more volumes to read before I catch up with the series, and I hope to give them a shot soon. I am really curious to see if they actually have Ume and Hisako date or if they continue the teasing until the very end of the manga. The covers seem to show minor characters, so it doesn't appear to be nearing the end just yet...
