Sousou no Frieren Season 2 Ep.02 - Sword Demon vs Frieren. Amazing as usual
Episode 2 of Sousou no Frieren Season 2 continues their travels as they go deeper north. As we predicted in the last episode, it seems there were multiple heroes from various parts of the world. While Himmel was the one who actually defeated the Demon Lord, the others had their own share of achievements.
In this case, the Hero of the South was a true gentleman who tried to recruit Frieren without success. Apparently, he knew he was going to fail to recruit her because he could see the future, which was also the source of his strength. Of course, he also predicted that he was going to die without being able to defeat the Demon Lord.

That didn't stop him from moving forward, knowing that Himmel would eventually complete what he started (he actually left a message for him through Frieren). He managed to defeat three of the Demon Lord's Seven Generals and one demon said to be able to see the future just like him. He was truly Humanity's Strongest.
After that, the focus shifted to a relatively large city in the north they were passing through, where Frieren immediately started acting strangely. You know, Frieren complaining that there is no time to waste should be something that rings alarm bells, considering she is usually fine spending literal months gathering herbs.
It seems the reason is that in the past, when she was traveling with the Hero Party, they were trapped in the city and forced to help recover a sword owned by the city's rulers. Apparently, the sword is a powerful item coveted by demons, so attempts to steal it happen from time to time. And well... it happened again now.
The progression of the mission was very smooth, from getting roped into finding the sword to actually finding the demon and killing it. I think this serves as a reminder of why negotiating with demons is completely pointless. They just don't care about humans and will do whatever they want.

I knew there was little to worry about, but with this episode, we can put to rest any concerns about the animation. The battle against the demon was smooth (as you can see from the attached video), and while it was very short, it is a good sign for things to come later in the season.
Now I am looking forward to seeing what will happen next week. The preview title is "Somewhere She'd Like", and the voiceovers were all talking about going to a hot spring. Are we going to get a fanservice episode, or is there another subplot going on there?
