Tai-Ari deshita. Ojousama wa Kakutou Game nante Shinai Ep.12 - We need second season!

Episode 12 of Tai-Ari deshita: Ojousama wa Kakutou Game nante Shinai completes the series with Mio facing her first real loss and being knocked out of the tournament altogether against Arisa. I was expecting her to win, to be honest, but a loss was the cleanest way to conclude the season because there simply wasn't enough time to continue the tournament.

The real significance, though, was not in the match itself, but in the fact that it sent shockwaves through the other characters. Some of them reacted with an increased determination to get better, like Yuu and Tamaki; they want to stand on the same stage and be just as good.

Who are you?! What have you done with Aya? I've never seen her act in such a lady-like way! Is this the true form of yuri?!

I still think best couple was Yuu x Tamaki, but they could've dedicated more time to them. They feel so nice together!

Others, like Aya, reacted quite differently. It's jealousy: deep-rooted jealousy. And no, it's not about gaming skill; she was jealous of the fact that Mio was connecting so deeply with someone other than her. It's not even hidden; she literally says it out loud.

That brings a noticeable change to how she interacts with Mio. She even slipped into full "ojou-sama" mode for a bit, smiling and acting cute to the point where Tamaki and Yuu started wondering if she was sick. The yuri journey that started in Episode 1 had its first BIG development, and that's where the series ends.

How am I supposed to survive without knowing what happens next between Mio and Aya? Of course, I'll pick up the manga volumes in the coming months, but I'd really love to see an animated sequel, as I've grown attached to these characters far more than I ever expected.

My favorite character overall remains Tamaki, with Yuu trailing close behind. Neither is quite as eccentric as Mio, but they serve as the voice of reason within the group. Tamaki is the only one truly balancing her life at the dorm with her passion for games, while Yuu is the one who tries to act as a mediator whenever something happens.

Mio stop sulking and start working more in becoming close to Aya. That's your obligation!

Aya's roommate is ultra interested about the yuri developments, she's truly our mascot character in the series.

Despite me not being a fan of fighting games, the yuri elements were enough to keep me invested throughout the season, and it easily rates among my top series of Summer 2026. I can see it being more hit-or-miss for others, though; if you aren't interested in the potential romance between the characters, all that really remains is the fighting game aspect.
