Today Wuthering Waves released the all-new 3.0 patch, featuring a new zone called Lahai-Roi and the new character Lynae attached to it. I quickly went through the story (just finished up a few minutes ago) and it was, as usual, action-packed and extremely entertaining.
The story continues from where we left off, with Rover preparing to travel to Lahai-Roi together with Chisa to enroll in the academy there as a student and investigate our own frequency. Something happens during the travel, and Rover ends up in a deserted area, getting chased by a giant worm.

There he meets Lynae, a very gal-looking girl on a motorbike. She helps us escape from the peril in a very action-paced chase sequence on a bike. Once in the city, we get introduced to the new basic systems (bike, etc.) and meet Mornye, a professor at the academy who is clearly connected with our previous life, as shown in the flashbacks.
It seems like Rover was at Lahai-Roi for a while in his past life and even left a cassette tape with his memories. These are briefly shown before Mornye asks them to be overwritten as it was "just a glitch in the system." We still don't know the exact relationship between the two, but in the flashback, Mornye was a student, so I guess they were fellow students or friends?

This patch felt a lot like a personal story for Lynae, really, as a good 70%+ of it was dedicated to her. Lynae was a citizen of the New Federation living in the slum, a crime-ridden area. One day, while struggling to survive, she finds a dying Fractsidus member (the antagonists in this game) called Lynae carrying an invitation letter for the academy.
She didn't think twice. She took it, pulled "the old switcheroo," and faked being Lynae to have a chance to live a peaceful life at Lahai-Roi away from the slums. Unfortunately, her enrollment was linked with Fractsidus, so she was constantly pestered by their members to do their bidding while also being scared of being found out.
After an attack from the Fractsidus members on the academy (which she thwarts together with Rover), she is expelled and is waiting to leave the academy. That is when the Void Worm attacks again, lured by the Fractsidus devices, and she decides to jump in and try to help.

Together with Rover, they defeat the Void Worm and come back to the academy where students hail them as "heroes." The academy reconsiders her situation, and she is now going through the procedures to get enrolled with her real identity this time and become a student like she always dreamed. Kind of a happy ending for her!
At the very end we hear a voice (I guess the pink girl we saw in the trailers?) telling us to "protect the sun" which I assume it relates to the project to replace the sun in the skies of Lahai-Roi with an artificial one. There was a fight between scientists over it and one of those seemed very much clearly "one of the enemies" considering his behavior toward Lynae.
Honestly, as usual, the story was excellently delivered through very expressive cutscenes, chase sequences, and a climactic scripted battle against the Void Worm. Wuthering Waves really excels at doing these and making you "feel good" while playing them.

The story itself wasn't huge, probably around 3 hours-ish, but I assume we will get more of it once Mornye drops in the gacha, as it seems to be a pattern they follow now. It kind of makes sense as you can connect the story of that character to their release for a bigger impact.
Well, now back to the farming mines. I need to level up Lynae and farm the artifacts she needs to shine. I heard her best team is going to be Lynae, Mornye, and Yuno/Augusta, but I will put Shorekeeper in the meantime while waiting for Mornye.
