Wuthering Waves 3.1 Story - Aemeath is our daughter! Cliffhanger?! Aliens?!
The Wuthering Waves 3.1 patch was released today, featuring the new character Aemeath. I went through the story in one sitting, which provided about six hours of content in total. It was an incredible experience full of twists and revelations regarding the core concepts of the Wuthering Waves world. Please be aware that this post contains spoilers.
As mentioned, the focus is on the mysterious Aemeath, who is currently a digital ghost. This is the result of an incident in the past where she resonated with the Exostrider, a gigantic mecha, to save Lahai-roi. Her body overclocked and disintegrated, but she survived as a virtual entity.

I expected her to be someone from Rover's previous life, but I assumed she would be just another heroine for Rover to conquer. Boy, was I wrong. Once her backstory is revealed, it turns out she is essentially an adoptive daughter to Rover. She was a child when Rover saved her, and they spent quite a bit of time living in the same home and playing together.
The developers put a lot of effort into showing scenes of a normal life between Rover and Aemeath. This was pivotal in making the player care for Aemeath in preparation for the inevitable, emotionally impactful scene. I honestly prefer this type of development over the typical "heroine of the month" style. I hope to see more variety like this in future patches.

Next, we have the major revelations about the world. Exostriders were the ships used to transport the Sentinels to Solaris-3 by an unknown alien race to which Rover belongs. We do not know the full extent of their plan for Solaris-3 yet, but we know that Rover longed to see her own home and was consistently denied by her superiors. Rover was sent here to complete a mission involving the Sentinels, though further details remain a mystery.
Many of these Exostriders never actually arrived to deliver their cargo to Solaris-3 because they were attacked by Threnodians along the way, much like the one that fell in Lahai-roi. This makes it clear that Solaris-3 is caught in the middle between two alien outsider factions: Rover's faction and the Threnodian faction.

The patch story ends with a cliffhanger, as Aemeath goes back in time to defeat the Threnodian and close the time loop she was trapped in. A small part of her managed to remain on Earth thanks to the pendant and the Solskin. Rover noticed a few things at the end that seem to contradict Aemeath's thoughts on how the timeline unfolded. This will likely be the key to finding a way to bring her back from the depths.
I really hope they give her good closure in the coming patches, similar to what was done with Cartethyia, and provide ample time to show her living her new life happily. Seriously, Kuro, do not drop the ball. Give our daughter a good ending, or else...

I am still quite excited by all these developments and am trying to settle my thoughts as I write this. After the "Companion Story" level of the previous patch, this one really managed to bring the hype back to Wuthering Waves for me. I will probably go farm the materials to level up Aemeath's skills next.
