Yankee JK Kazuhana-chan Vol 13,14 - Swimsuits volume. Kanae arrives!

Volumes 13 and 14 of Yankee JK Kuzuhana-chan (ヤンキーJKクズハナちゃん) continue from where we left off, with the story focusing almost entirely on the group's summer trip and related activities. As you might have correctly guessed, this is the swimsuit-centered arc we have all been waiting for.

At the same time, the story introduces a new character, Usagi Kanae, a first-year student and classmate of Koharu, Ayano, and Misuzu. Unlike the other girls introduced in the previous volumes, she has a quite unique personality that adds something that we were lacking in the cast.

She is the class representative and appears to be a perfect model student from the outside, following the rules and protecting other students from breaking them. The moment she discovers Saotome's presence at the school and hears rumors about him, such as the claim that he is dating multiple girls simultaneously, she becomes adamant about stopping him.

However, we soon see her true self. While she attempts to stop him (despite Saotome doing nothing wrong), her imagination runs wild, and she thinks of things far more perverted than one usually would in such situations. She is a closet pervert who is totally unaware of her own tendencies.

This leads to many fun misunderstandings when she starts to imagine even normal and innocent requests from Saotome as devious plans to take her away and do "this and that". I actually like this character type a lot, and she works well to deliver solid comedy on top of the usual fanservice.

To reach the swimsuit arc and show off to Saotome, the girls go through a small story section where they face the most dangerous enemy of all: weight. More specifically, Aoi Kodera finds that the swimsuit she bought last year no longer fits, and she is determined to lose some weight.

Together with her friends Sakurako Itachi and Mao Nekomiya, she begins training and dieting to fit back into her swimsuit. Eventually, Hanako and Saotome join under the guise of training, and honestly, it was perhaps more fun than the actual swimsuit episode that followed.

The swimsuit story itself was quite entertaining, even if the focus was more on fanservice than comedy. In a classic but solidly delivered scene, Yuuna loses her swimsuit top, and Saotome and the others have to search the water to find it and return it to her.

I also want to make a special mention of Ayano because she really surprised me in this segment. She usually wears her hair in a "twin buns" style, which fits her teasing personality, but at the end of the episode, she appears after taking a bath with long, straight hair. She is stunningly beautiful.
