Yankee JK Kazuhana-chan Vol 17,18 - Samejima Reona looks great! More cheerleading.

Volumes 17 and 18 of Yankee JK Kuzuhana-chan continue from where we left off, with Yuna visiting Saotome's house for the first time and meeting with his parents. As a result, Saotome is starting to become more aware of his situation regarding the multiple girls chasing him.

There was not a huge change in their relationship yet, but thanks to Yuna's inadvertent assist (she told everyone else that she went to his house), Saotome's parents are now aware of how many girls are currently hovering around their son. His mother appears to be quite an interesting character who is very amused by the whole situation.

There was also a small glimpse into the life of Saotome's childhood friend, Kouno Madoka, showing her working part-time at a café and being pestered by a stalker. I honestly always felt she was somewhat "boring" compared to the other heroines, but this small episode was quite cute, featuring her trying to hide her identity from Saotome to avoid being teased by her coworkers.

Honestly Reona is seriously stunning looking, can match Hanako easily both in power and looks.

Yuna ended up causing all the girls to appear to Saotome's house. Good progress!

Of course, there were a few other minor events, but the main focus of these two volumes was the training camp at the Kuzuryuu dojo. To force Hanako into attending, her mother invited Saotome and prepared the right situation to push Hanako into taking things more seriously.

How did she do it? By introducing Reona Samejima, a middle school student and the current top of the female group at the Kuzuryuu dojo. I honestly had to do a double take while reading because she looks extremely mature, essentially at the same level as Hanako in terms of beauty. She certainly does not look like someone in her third year of middle school.

Reona's rivalrly with Hanako is strong and goes back from when they were together.

Reona totally doesn't look like a third year middle schooler just by looking. I thought she was from another high school.

She is Hanako's childhood friend and rival. Unlike Shishidou Seira, however, she does not really look up to Hanako; instead, she thinks primarily about how to defeat her in battle. Hanako is completely finished with the whole martial arts thing though, which deeply frustrates Reona.

Naturally, Saotome's presence serves as excellent bait to get Hanako to fight back. Reona teasing him already agitates Hanako, but the threat of, "I'll tell him that you love him", is enough to make Hanako serious about fighting her. The match ends in a victory for Hanako, but it was by a very thin margin with a 2-1 points result.

As usual Hanako's mother absolutely doesn't look her age and steals lots of interesting shots.

Hanako is, of course, everpresent in the volume, but she's the main heroine so it's expected.

Hanako's long hiatus combined with Reona's efforts has brought the two to a very close level in terms of skill. I am not sure how often Reona will appear in the story since she attends a different school, but I really enjoyed her as a character, and she is quite high in my heroine rankings. Maybe she can join the same high school after graduating?

There was also a small segment of the 18th volume dedicated to the cheerleading group, with Ayano Kijitani, Mai Kamogawa, and Takae Kasumi appearing. Honestly, it was not the most interesting part of the volume, but some progress came out of it as it seems even Ayano is slowly falling for Saotome.

Cheerleading practice, that feels dangerous girls. I'm not expert, but...

The next volume appears to be centered on the summer festival where, of course, all the girls want to spend some time with Saotome. Who will manage to grab the spotlight this time around? The cover art shows the surprising pair of Hanako and Sakurako. The latter has not really been interested in Saotome until now.
