Eroge no Akuyaku ni Tensei shita no de, Mob ni Naru koto ni Shita Vol 02 - Disappointing.

Volume 2 of Eroge no Akuyaku ni Tensei shita no de, Mob ni Naru koto ni Shita (エロゲの悪役に転生したので、モブになることにした) marks the end of this series that, in one way or another, crashed out after a decent initial volume that added lots of concepts, but ended up developing none of them.

The story used a common premise in these Kakuyomu-based web novels, being reincarnated into a character from an actual game. In this case, it was an erogè antagonist as a target, and he tried to live as a normal guy trying to avoid the inevitable demise of his character in the game. You can read more about it in the original post we made about the first volume.

The three heroines were all cute, but never really managed to get some proper time to shine.

Ayame looked like the most 'classic' main heroine, but personality was quite different.

The problem was that the second volume felt like an Ayame-focused volume centered on the whole 'student council election' and, believe me, that would've been fine if the story didn't rehash the same 'someone is spreading a rumor about the heroine' thing that we already went through in the first volume with Kanna.

I liked Ayame's personality, but the developments were too thin to actually make me connect with her. I actually liked the cute scenes with Kanna trying to get Kaede's attention more during the moments in between Ayame's story developing. The scene where she barged in his house and started cooking was adorable.

Happy end or is it? Nothing really solved, but I guess he got his dream of surviving?

Ayame is the 'look normal on surface, but is actually daring inside' type.

There was no development of note on the whole reincarnation thing (why was he picked?) or the scenario writer being reincarnated in the game world either, which could've been nice side plots to enlarge the world setting. All hints were pretty much ignored to focus on Ayame's story.

Natsuki was...absent for the most of it. Sure, she got the "help me out at improving my grades" plot thread, but she felt, like in the first volume, just a background character with the "heroine" sticker. I'm guessing she would've been the focus of the third volume if the series actually continued.

Kanna was overall the best in the ways she interacted with protagonist, but it never really went anywhere.

It's been over a year since the last volume released, and honestly, I don't think there's much chance of it ever continuing. I've had a quick look at the web novel that apparently goes a bit further in the storyline, but is also cut off at a certain point (63 scenes available) in 2023. Overall, I can't suggest this series; the first volume was mediocre, but had potential which was squandered in this volume.
