Hyakkano Season 3 Ep.01 - Chiyo was a great way to start back. Now what?
After waiting over a year, Hyakkano (Kimi no Koto ga Daidaidaidaidaisuki na 100-nin no Kanojo) is back with a third season. It delivers a great summary for everyone who might have forgotten some of the heroines introduced recently, but also gives a sneak peek of the upcoming ones.
We left last season with 11 heroines, but the initial segment shows 15, so we are bound to get at least 4 more over the course of this season. The first one received her "girlfriend" status in this very episode and is named Iin Chiyo, which is clearly a wordplay for Iinchou (class representative).

In fact, she is a small, cute, glasses-wearing class representative who easily gets angered when things aren't "proper." Apparently, Rentarou saved her father from a car accident long ago, and he has been preparing Chiyo for Rentarou ever since, believing no one else would be worthy of his beloved daughter. Chiyo doesn't mind either, so I guess it's a win-win situation?
The other new heroines are hard to classify just from the first episode, but they have a high hurdle to clear to beat the "old guard" that is already established in our minds. I found this problem even with the ones from season 2, because the impact has lessened significantly since the days of Hakari, Karane, Shizuka, and Nano.
I'm genuinely excited, though; is the author really going to continue until he has 100 heroines all in the same manga? It would be unprecedented, but I'm rooting for him to make it work. The series is always fun, and I simply can't skip this craziness.
It was honestly amazing to see all the other heroines back in action, too, and there's one pairing that I can't wait to see back together—you know what I'm going to say now. Yes, Hakari and Karane! After that kiss scene during the previous seasons, I can't stop thinking about the yuri potential!

The next episode will focus on the introduction of Iin Chiyo to the harem and see what kind of reactions it generates. Considering her personality, she could easily become the straight man trying to fix all the chaos that the other girls create. I am especially curious how she interacts with Hahari, as a mother did not seem to be present in Chiyo's household...
