Jingai Kyoushitsu no Ningengirai Kyoushi Ep.03 - That solves Isaki's situation!

Episode 3 of Jingai Kyoushitsu no Ningengirai Kyoushi (人外教室の人間嫌い教師) continues and completes the Ohgami Isaki-centered character arc, just as we predicted last week. The story revolves around the clash between the two Isaki halves, as they seem to desire and strive for completely different things.

In the flashback, it becomes clear that Isaki was bullied in the past by the other wolves due to the human blood in her veins, causing her to resent everyone and herself. It is the typical discrimination plot where the in-group (pure wolves) discriminates against the one who is different in some way from themselves.

Admittedly she's right here. The face that Rei made could be linked to something that happened in his past

This causes the "wolf half" of Isaki to start desiring to disappear, thinking that becoming fully human will grant the "other" Isaki the freedom and happiness she deserves. At the same time, the "human half" of Isaki thinks the same but in the opposite direction, trying to help her wolf half accept herself. The two just like each other a lot and want to help, but they can't seem to communicate this information properly.

Rei becomes a mediator here, trying to reason with both halves and help them understand the point of view of the other side to try and make a breakthrough in the "negotiations." This works out, and the end result is both sides of Isaki deciding to start planning together what they want to achieve while still pursuing the "become human" goal (which is good, as I wouldn't want characters to disappear from the main cast).

This was the only real comedy scene of this episode so I had to insert it. Plus they're totally right! Rei is guilty! View video page

Honestly, it was a pretty heavy episode compared to the previous two in terms of mood, and I think it sets up what the story is going to be going forward. We will likely go through each of the main heroines, explore their real traumas, help them overcome them, and at some point face what caused Rei to stop being a teacher.

It reminds me of the anime series Centaur no Nayami, which revolved around similar concepts of discrimination, although in that case, it was set in a world where both humans and mythological creatures coexisted. However, honestly, this doesn't compare in terms of story or delivery at this point (the animation quality here is still pretty poor).

She might be thinking the exact same thing right now you know?

She was absolutely adorable as a child, who could possibly bully her?!

The next episode's title is "The Misanthrope and the Angel's Comet." Is it time to add a new character to the mix? I don't think any of the characters we currently know about could be linked to the "Angel" archetype.
