Marriagetoxin Ep.12 - Tonako Dogo, the real leader of the beast clan?!
Episode 12 of Marriagetoxin concludes the Beast Clan arc with a predictable episode showing Gero acquiring a new, powered-up poison while, at the same time, introducing a new character who is dangerous enough to match his growth and keep the stakes high, despite his increased power.
The new character is Tonako Dogo, the real Beast Clan master, who uses a giant wolf as her animal companion and fits the femme fatale archetype with her heavy makeup, long black hair, and daring clothing. Honestly, if first impressions are anything to go by, I don't like her already; she carries that aura that makes these types of characters obnoxious.

I'm happy to be proven wrong once her storyline becomes more prevalent, though. She captured her brother, Toushirou, and his servant, Byakko, which, as I suspected last week, means we may end up seeing him again, perhaps even in an ally position. I'm not a fan of that, as I dislike his type of character, much like I disliked Accelerator in To Aru Majutsu no Index when they forced him into a leading role.
Arashiyama manages to arrive at the very end of the battle with the other prisoners, but her entrance and role are much more subdued than I was expecting. The episode gave Gero most of the credit for the battle and left her with a minor role at the very end, protecting Mei from the bite.
It is a shame, really, as it keeps forcing Gero into the "save the damsel" role yet again for the fourth time if we count Mei. I know that the series is pursuing that angle, but I would appreciate some variety that shows the girls actually putting up a fight instead of being completely powerless.
The next and final episode is titled "Thanks, Man." and seems to cover the aftermath of Arashiyama's storyline. The brief preview segment seems to imply that she declares her feelings to him, putting her on the front line of the whole marriage storyline. Of course, nothing is certain, as the manga series is still ongoing.

I'm genuinely curious to read the manga to continue the series and see where it goes. While I love the romance/comedy parts, sometimes the action can get predictably boring, much like a shounen manga. I'm not sure how they categorize this, but I guess it’s seinen?
