Marriagetoxin Ep.13 - Second season confirmed! Akane is back?!
Episode 13 of MarriageToxin concludes the first season with another episode centered on Arashiyama Kimie, who turned out to be the girl who hogged most of the attention in the anime. For good reason, mind you; I like her the best among all the heroines we have seen so far. Her personality is addictive.
As expected, Tonako Dougo is a femme fatale; her way of speaking and threatening others marks her as a recurring character, and that kind of strong woman is certain to become a heroine in the long term. She is just a bit more "complicated" to conquer compared to the others, especially when she literally threatened Hikaru to become her "pet".

Not that I want her to become one. I said it last time and I will repeat it here: I don't like that kind of character. All the other three or four heroines introduced so far were charming, but I only feel terror at the thought of Tonako Dougo. It will take quite a bit of effort to make her likeable to me.
We also received the first official declaration of love from Kimie, making her the first woman officially in love with Hikaru. Of course, there has to be some kind of hurdle; in this case, she wants to improve herself to feel worthy of him before making her declaration again. It is clearly a way to stall and introduce other heroines, but hey, it is a step forward at least.
The episode ends by highlighting that the new enemy is a member of one of the branches of the Gerou family. It seems like the focus will be on Akane, but I honestly can't shake the feeling that Gero's father is really just trying to push Gero further and is using Teruaki to do so.
Honestly, I'm quite a fan of Akane's design, and while she can't be a heroine, I wouldn't mind her being more present in the story. Her interactions with Gero are very sibling-like and provide quite a bit of comedy. I'm also interested in seeing the dynamics between her and Mei...

A second season has been confirmed for January 2027, and I can't wait to see where the story goes from here with the Akane-centered plot. *MarriageToxin* wasn't a masterpiece, but it was the kind of guilty pleasure where you just turn off your brain and enjoy the silliness.
