Pieces Yurikago no Canaria - Omnium route solves all. True ending!
Pieces / Yurikago no Canaria is a visual novel developed by Whirlpool and released in 2020 as a sequel to Pieces / Wataridori no Somnium. Whether it should be considered a true sequel or a fan disk is debatable. While it contains a direct follow-up that brings a true conclusion to the story, much of it consists of small post-game scenes featuring the various girls in their respective routes.
You can find more details about the content of each route on my Pieces Notes Archive Page. For the most part, it is exactly what you would expect from a fan disk: a series of ecchi scenes with the heroines, some cute or funny narratives, and perhaps an emotional moment or two near the end to wrap things up.

The real story begins with the route for Yua, the main heroine. As you know from the original game, the story ends with Yua and everyone else returning to the real world while Tsubame, a doll constructed by the original Angel of that world (his mother, as he was created by her), disappears forever. It was a melodramatic, sad ending that technically left Yua without the person she loved most.
Yua's route mostly consists of normal fun similar to the others, but it ends with a strange scene where Tsubame begins to remember Castilla, a bird created from a fragment of the original Angel's soul. From there, the game suggests starting a new route called Omnium, which serves as the true ending for the entire franchise.

Immediately, we see Noa, another entity created by the original Angel, enter the story and abruptly become the protagonist's little sister. There are some quite entertaining scenes, one of which you can see in the stream page, but the story quickly devolves into drama as Tsubame regains more of his memory and the truth surfaces.
Apparently, the world we experienced was constructed by Yua with the help of the remaining pieces of Castilla. Noa rescued both Castilla and Tsubame, giving Yua a chance to regain all that she had lost. Yua was unsatisfied with the original ending and felt her life simply would not go well because something was lacking. Without realizing exactly what that was, she jumped at the opportunity.

Unfortunately, even with all the repetitions she went through in this small, reconstructed world, she could not find a way for them to survive together and have a happy ending. In the end, she uses her power to push Tsubame away, causing him to wake up in the real world, where he should not normally exist, by completely replacing her.
Now the situation is reversed, with Tsubame being depressed about being left alone by Yua. After a confrontation with Tsumugi, he finds the strength to keep his faith and begins searching for Yua in this world. We see the various heroines and even Kouji in their new lives in the real world, and they all assist Tsubame in his search.

This eventually leads to the reunion between the two and the happy ending of the series. At times, the logic felt a bit stretched, especially considering how much the first visual novel emphasized the inevitability of tragedy. However, all we cared about at that point was giving them a happy ending, and the game certainly delivered on that.
Overall, Pieces / Yurikago no Canaria is a must-read for anyone who played the original story, as it provides the closure and happy ending that every player of the first visual novel wished for. While the individual heroine routes offer a touch of fanservice, the final ending provides the promised emotional depth.
