Shishunki-chan no Shitsukekata - Kanon is cute, but Haruno...Nov 16, 2025, 10:40:36 AM

Shishunki-chan no Shitsukekata (How to Discipline Shishunki-chan) is a manga series by the same author of Oku-sama ga Seito Kaichou, and it carries a very similar vibe, a light-hearted romantic comedy with a strong ecchi focus and lots of playful energy.

The story follows Shiratori Kousuke, who suddenly finds himself part of a new family after his father remarries. He now lives with Kanon, his new stepsister, and Haruno, her mother (and he’s still on good terms with his biological mom, so no drama there). Much like the author’s previous work, the setup relies on forced cohabitation to push the plot forward, and it works just as well here.

Kanon is criminally cute

Kanon is incredibly cute, shy, and surprisingly stubborn. She starts off cold toward her new brother, but quickly softens up and begins to pursue him romantically, though at very, very, very tiny steps. Watching the two awkwardly navigate their new living situation is where most of the charm lies, and it’s consistently entertaining.

I’ve read six volumes so far, and while the story is definitely inching toward Kousuke and Kanon getting together, I doubt it’ll happen before the very end, which is perfectly fine. As long as the comedy stays strong, I’m here for the ride.

I'll be honest, new mom is hot
*hugs*

Kanon is often supported (or tormented) by her two closest friends:

  • Kisaragi Nemuko, short black hair, massive assets, much to Kanon’s eternal suffering.

  • Takashima Sayuki, a bold, confident gal who constantly tries to push Kanon into being more aggressive with her romantic advances.

On the other side of the triangle, we have Sasahara Konoka, the student council secretary and a close friend of the protagonist, and the girl he has a pretty big crush on. She’s stunning, charismatic, and someone Kanon sees as the ideal to strive toward in both beauty and personality. She’s also extremely attached to Kanon, as one can clearly see from the panels where she’s practically squeezing her to death.

Can I get a pillow like this one too?
This was so cute!

The series is complete at 12 volumes, and I’m really curious to see where things go from here. Especially since this latest volume ended with Konoka asking the protagonist out, which I’m sure comes with its own complications and reasons. I’m definitely excited to see how that shakes things up.
