Yankee JK Kazuhana-chan Vol 19,20 - Rakuda Kirara and Hakubishi Ran arrive!
Volumes 19 and 20 of Yankee JK Kuzuhana-chan continue the summer festival celebration. All the girls are planning ways to spend time alone with Saotome as the competition for his heart intensifies in the recent few volumes, with new girls appearing left and right.
As mentioned in the title, we are introduced to two more first-year girls: Kirara Rakuda and Ran Hakubishi. The first is a cutesy type, especially with her stylized eyes, while the second is an old-school delinquent character. Their designs do not seem heavily focused on fanservice, so I do not expect them to become major heroines like Ayano or Koharu.

At least, I hope so, because the roster of heroines is growing to a size that is genuinely unsustainable in terms of screen time. The heroines are already stretched thin, to the point that the author usually groups them together in small clusters that appear in tandem just to fulfill an "I am still here" quota.
These volumes feature plenty of interesting and cute moments, such as the festival stall competition between the first-year and second-year girls, the brief festival dates with each heroine, and Saotome’s surprise birthday celebration hosted by all the girls.

Among these events, the most significant was definitely Kasumi finally declaring her love to Saotome. She did it while they were riding a bike, so Saotome could not hear her perfectly, causing him to double-guess what actually happened. He clearly heard her say "I love you", but we all know how these situations usually play out.
This triggered a panic among the other girls, as they do not want to be surpassed by her. Hanako herself comes very close to confessing, but she ends up hiding her feelings out of embarrassment. This causes a misunderstanding that distances her from Saotome altogether. She is so hurt by the event that she even ends up acting like a child toward her mother, which is quite surprising given Hanako's usual relationship with her.

Now, the yearly design show at the school has returned, and Koharu is going to present her own outfit with Hanako and herself serving as models. Originally, Hanako tried to back out by making it a condition that Koharu must also go on stage, but she did not expect Koharu to actually take the bait and accept. There was also a small scene that tingled my yuri sensor between the two...
This, along with Hanako's current struggle to face Saotome, will be the focus of the next volume, and I am really curious to see where it goes from here. Will the other girls take this opportunity to confess as well, making the situation even more chaotic, or will the focus remain on the main heroine, Hanako?

The story seems to be moving toward resolving the romantic conflicts, but since the series is still ongoing with 30 volumes, there is clearly much more to come. How will the author manage to reset the status quo to prevent so many heroines from simply dropping out of the race?
