Yumene Connect Vol 9 - Reformed Yuuhi was scary. Nene is cute!
Volume 9 of Yumene Connect continues right from where we left off, with Yuuhi facing his body double before the double is able to do something to Momoka. There is a quick confrontation, and it is revealed that the double is really Yuuhi's inner desires taking physical form. You know, the kind of things you don't do because you follow the rules of society.
Either way, the situation is resolved (though with some entertaining fanservice scenes), and everything goes back to normal. Or does it? First of all, the student council appears, and it's another group of extremely unique people who are clearly not normal humans, especially the student council president, Ai, who has a gal style and always wears a mask. The moment she removed her mask, she was able to paralyze the other Yuuhi in a second. They haven't delved much into what they are yet, but now they're part of the cast, so we'll see soon, I guess.
Yuuhi gets suspended and starts to get depressed while trying to suppress his erotic feelings. His older sister, Koharu, is extremely worried about him, so she invites all the girls over to get him back on his feet. This turns into a conveyor belt of failures as the girls come in and succumb to their own desires, causing his state to worsen. Particularly hilarious was the teacher, Fumino, who was convinced she could help Yuuhi accept himself as an educator, but was eliminated immediately upon entering because her own body is way too curvy and hot.
In this "act," we have many fun scenes; I especially liked the heaven/hell reform police with Unika and Nano acting as cops trying to reform Yuuhi. They acted harsh during training and then nice afterward, but this cycle only ended up awakening his masochistic persona, causing Koharu to get angry and ask them to turn him back to the way he was before.
Aside from the student council, we also got another character who might become more of a regular named Fusemi Nene. She's a girl from the countryside who always wanted to become more like the sparkling girls she sees in the city. She thinks the best way is to learn from Yuuhi and the other girls in the club because their ecchi antics are clearly an important part of it (for her, at least). She looks fun and has a very different personality from the other heroines, so I'm looking forward to seeing how she interacts with everyone.
The volume ends with a nice scene of Jun confiding in the school nurse, Oze Miku, about her conflicting feelings as she sees the other girls monopolizing Yuuhi's time. Miku tells her to act more her age and less like an adult trying to "read the room," which gives her the courage to do something.
What that something is, we'll see in the next volume, which is going to be released on October 16, 2026. The preview shows Yuuhi and Jun in some very compromising scenes, but as usual, previews have been pretty inaccurate in the past, so who knows what is really happening there.
